correct

thats why i said 250

an oem pump from a 6th gen can usually dish out 400whp for a while

250 is a little close to the edge, but still usable

BTW, I forgot to say, great number on an a6, it has low compression

Throw a d16y7 head on there to keep it nonvtec, but enjoy more flow, and more compression for more VTAKZZ KILLA POWAHZZZZ

I tried that. It didn't work. The ports on the Y7 head don't flow worth beans, and the OEM cam is even worse. I was seeing 25psi of boost with my Endyn M62 blower setup using the Y7 OEM head/cam. The boost couldn't get into the combustion chamber, and was backing up in the manifold. I'm on a Z6 head now with the Crower turbo cam, and the boost is down to 22 psi.

If you're set on non-Vtec, get a Y8 head and a Y7 head, and make a baby. Use the Y8 head casting, cam caps and valves/springs, etc..., but the Y7 rocker arms, rockers and some sort of reground Y7 cam with more lift and duration, and make a non-Vtec hybrid that'll flow decent.

I understand teh y8/y7 hybrid
I thought you were still on the A6 ehad, so from that, a Y7 would have been better.

Course, head porting would take care of the pressure problem

200whp sounds feasiable, but since you did this with a Z6 head, dont expect too much more.

the z6 (in stock form) has the best flowing D head.

Should be able to make more power earlier with the Y8 head, but your peak might only increase a small amount. The extra compression would have been nice, but it heats the combustion a tad more lol

Have you considered fabricating an idler setup, and making a water-to-air intercooler that bolts between the SC and the manifold adapter?

With the added cooling, some SC guys can hit 15+ more hp, but clearances in teh engine bay are of course even tighter

you must have me confused with someone else, i have a stock d16a6 making this 178whp and i plan on putting a y8 head on it.

My plans are really this: But the 255 walbro in cause i have one laying around, put the y8 head on with arp head studs and cometic head gasket, get it retuned and hopefully make 200whp. Then daily drive it.

i just wanted something fun for this year .

my bad, lil confused lol

178 on a full a6 s an easy transition to 200 with the help of a y8

y7 valvetrain if you dont want vtec wiring or the need to do cam profiles tuning

all 88-00 d15 and d16 headgaskets work

'thickness is what is different

z6 and y8 headgaskets are the thinnest, and produce the higehst compression

if you need lower comp, a d15b7 headgasket fits the bill.

considering we are talking only a few decimals of compression difference, go for the metal ehadgasket for a d16y8

find it on ebay

Before
This is when it was a stock d16a6

Hpr Header with a stainless 2.5" exhaust
jrsc 9lbs crank pulley
short ram intake
aem fuel rail
Fic 550 injectors
converted to obd1

I made 179whp and 160ft/lbs on e85.
Around 5k the stock fuel pump started to get weak.

Now:
I installed a 255 walbro and y8 head

They say the y8 head flows alot better and i had it laying around

Hoping to get it tuned this week and break 200whp mark

This is my daily also lol

Got a 97 civic ex couple weeks ago, really looking into all possibilities for it. It's mostly stock - a brand new canvas :-)

What do you guys think about a sc in it? I'm trying to plan for the long run so I don't make the mistake of buying a bunch of crap only to engine swap or turbo or sc it later.
For quick reference the 97 ex has a d16y8 engine.

What I meant was I want to plan long term as in save most money for now and go with the best decision for most power.

ex: Save for a year and swap in a b series....or save up and get a turbo or sc.

OR should I keep it na and start slowly working on it with intake/exhaust etc. and work from there?

I've never owned a car for 5 years lol always sell before then.
I love this EX though...this will be my exception ;-)

turbo/supercharger will beat any b series, and a turbo setup can cost $800 and beat any b series setup with a full NA build

have one made

its cheap, probably cost $50

They only need to match the center where it mounts, and teh belt stlye

Doing this, I highly recommend using a bigger tensioner pulley to offset the higher risk of belt slippage

more tension MIGHT cause minor acceleration of belt wear, but it will stay boosting rather then slipping

A bigger crank pulley, well you should look into B series crank pulleys. Look up whetehr an N1 pulley works (Civic Type R with B16B 185hp motor)

Realize you CAN just find a bigger crank pulley that fits your belt type, say off a factory supercharged car, and you can amchine your crank to accept it

VERY risky since hodnas are internally balanced, rather then pulley/flywheel balanced

ITs a shame hodnas have such a limited supercharger field. Its the only non turbo way to get lots of useable power!
