We arent talking about a6's though are we? a d15b7 vs. d15b vtec is what the guy was talking about. 102hp vs. 130hp....hmmm. not to mention more rpms, vtec, and more love from the aftermarket world....</TD></TR></TABLE>

d15b7 head us very similar to the a6.

rpms? big deal you can rev a d15b7 to 7500 with no problems. from my experience, vtec on SOHC supercharged setups is a waste and actually blows a lot of the boost out of the exhaust ports.

more love from the aftermarket? d15b7 came in a 92-95 civic. there is PLENTY of aftermarket support for that. anything that bolts on to a d15b vtec, d16z6, or d16y8 will bolt to a d15b.

please dont try to start an argument with me. ive been down this road before with sohcs.

example of making power....

look at the post before this. D16y7 non-vtec 173hp+ and 145tq+

Yeah no kidding that is pretty impressive numbers for a D16Y7.

Once again SOHC VTEC is really asymmetrical cam profiles. Good for stock reliability and good low end and good top end power without sacrificing idle and fuel efficiency.

There are plenty of reasons that VTEC equipped engines perform well and better than NON-VTEC engines aside from the larger lift and duration in the VTEC profile; they have better flowing head designs, lighter and better balanced rotating assemblies and don't forget short gearing in any transmission will make any car feel faster! HOWEVER D-Series SOHC VTEC cannot really be compared in these respects to their B/H/F or K Powered VTEC cars.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that SOHC VTEC sucks, but too many people think they are the end all be all compared to the NON-VTEC SOHC's when really they are really not that much of an upgrade from one to the other. You'll benefit more by swaping a CX/DX tranny to a EX/Si tranny.

The only reason I'm thinking of using the D15B is because it's sitting there in my garage collecting dust and my current D15B7 is suffering from oval cylinders.

all in all, every single SOHC D series motor i have seen as made similar numbers.

vtec or nonvtec. although the trend is nonvtec making slightly better numbers at lower rpms.

Use the d15b vtec...hondagod 'streetwerkz' probably wont like it cuz it wont be an a6 but trust me, INTERNALLY on the d15bvtec there are more options and better flow, AND you can rev higher without worrying about blowing ur motor up or going out of your powerband(i.e. revving a b7 to 7500...stupid) You pretty much summed it up yourself, dont forget compression is better as well. i think you know what to do.
Higher rpms is where you should make your power.

why are you trying to act all crazy partner? leave my name out of your mouth.

that D17y7 a few posts back made more power than your d15b and it revved much lower.

all i ever stated was that "traditionally", the D16a6 makes more power with the JRSC (which was designed and prototyped on the A6) than any other sohc motor.

I have a D15b in my car right now and its ok but I can't wait to put the fresh A6 in. Maybe I'll SC the D15b first then throw the A6 in and SC that

...im not 'acting all crazy'....partner...? lol, you weren't answering the dudes question...

...who's d15b?...

...and you went on a tangent about an a6 when the guy was talking about a b7 to a d15b vtec? just get your stuff straight.

an d16a6 and a d15b7 are VERY VERY VERY similar in the way they make power.

my **** is straight, partner.

and sorry.... i spaced that you have a d16z6 and not a d15b. could have sworn though by the way you worship that motor.

like i said, that NON vtec sohc a few posts back made more power across all RPMs than your VTEC model.

sohc vtec is worthless, especially under boost.

hey, will you please stop calling me ur partner...im not gay.

and i dont worship a motor?...lol, like you worship a SOHC S/C thread when you dont even have an sohc anymore... but like you think the a6 and the b7 are so similar, the z6 and the d15bvtec are similar too. but you wouldnt no that cuz vtec motors are pointless i guess....

... who's the one who is arguing now? how about we drop this and be mature instead of turning this into a regular HT thread where people are arguing about the dumbest ****.

i'd like to see dyno numbers of a b7 with a blower.

If it takes "drama" to keep this thread alive, so be it.

A refreshing change from just reading technical info... ok, maybe not!

and in what part were you joking?...i am not the one who keeps instigating this, so ur the one who is getting all uppity over a forum because i guess im getting under your skin for you to keep dragging this on...

...and why do you wanna no so much about me?...kinda creepy if you ask me? how bout you stop interrogating me by looking me up on myspace and what not.

Just drop it, theres no need for this to go on anymore. i was trying to be the bigger person in the situation by trying to drop this but yet you kept making comments. if you really have a problem with me stop whoring this thread and take it to PM's.

trust me, it takes a lot more than this to get me to act uppity. i tried to add you to myspace like a week ago when you first started with the "hondagod" bullshit. i wanted you to see who you were talking **** too. funny that you bring it up every time you respond now.

you mentioning my niece is enough to get him to cave your face in.

that isnt an internet threat either. thats real talk. good thing this isnt a local forum.

and who are you? your post is more of an instigating tone rather than posting any relevant info to the thread.

this thread should have been locked a long time ago anyway because the OP (8atman) had no friggan clue what he was talking about when he made this thread.

but, lets get back on topic. SiEGg96, if you have any more to say. PM me.

I was merely hoping to see the first olive branch thrown out,,, I was enjoying the thread about the SOHC boost until the bashing began.
