The Official SOHC Supercharger thread...
This is a pretty good thread.... shouldn't be left to fade.
Haven't posted in quite a while. We were gonna turbo a 91 Si rex... got most of the **** needed and then got an epiphany. I've got a D16Y8 J/R blower kit laying in the shop. Friday we ditched the turbo idea and decided to make the Y8 kit work on an A6. I should have some stupid stories to share next weekend.
I have just one issue, I don't have a problem with Moss Motors, but is this Bando 3PK1220 belt available elsewhere? I'm going to be ordering 2 of them this morning from them. But for future reference is this commonly available from another vendor?

not sure about your belt issue but I live by Rockford, IL and will be supercharged soon. Maybe we could meet up in the future and compare are setups.

civicflow,
I have an even better idea, you can meet me and my crew at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove Wisconsin on April 22nd. This is the first event of the Import Wars Points Series and we'll be at all seven events... just like last season. We're putting this rex together just for bracket racing... this is gonna be my younger sons car. I'm gonna retire his '91 Si ZC hatchback that has been owned by me since new. (300K mi on the chasis) I run a '93 EXcoupe JDM B16A, JR High-Boost S/C kit. Our 3rd bracket car is my daughters '95 teg. You may have even seen it. She's going to school in Rockford. Black with pink striping and stickered up with TD3 Racing/Hondaddy.com . I have an older son with a '97 Prelude, but can't afford the racing and his apartment... so he's just a crew member now.
daveb91,
I appreciate your comments regarding the belt. My fav is to bring them a piece of 3/8" rope knotted to size. The parts counter guys hide when I walk in because there is hardly any book-stock parts in our hybrid collection.
jdmsiR20,
Exhaust.... We have DC Sports on everything we race. The older sets(3yrs ago or more) have oval mufflers and sound reasonable. Only loud at full throttle. But the newer ones w/round muffler sound too ricey for my personal liking. I'll be buying another brand in the future. In Illinois we passed new legislation... No more emissions tests for cars '95 or older!!!(can you say "test pipe?") I was doing freakin cartwheels!!! I can't imagine what it's like out in Cali. I read the mags about the emissions cops... big busts at HIN and such. That sucks

Thermal Research is a good cat back, i had one on my old hatchback with a sohc zc. quiet until WOT, sounded good-not crappy sounding
I keep hearing the same from owners of Thermal systems. Did yours cost you a fortune? That seems to be the only down-side. We've noticed that turbo guys prefer them too.
Just wondering, any chance you'll have your stuff put together in time for Import Wars? It's a really good time... even if you don't wish to participate. Or you can pay a bit less and fun-run.
Curious if you ever get around Rock Valley College? You'll see little racergirl's black teg... it'll be pretty obvious.

My old civic came with the exhaust on it. I hope my car will be done by then. I need to sell my turbo stuff so i can get my trans rebuilt w/Quaife LSD.
I was under the impresssion that this pulley was a power adder possibly by the diameters this pulley has as opposed to stock. I was told to post this pulley here in hopes that someone could ID it as a possible upgrade on jrsc setup.
I have an aftermarket J/R crankshaft pulley but it's black with the Jackson Racing logo etched in white. All others I've seen are this way too. But that's not to say it couldn't from another manufacturer. Does it match-up with the diameter of the crankshaft? Is it definitely Honda or just a random pulley you've ran across?
It was a hand me down kit, this was the pulley that came with it but like you said...it doesn't seem to match the standard jrsc kit pulley.
When I got it, I was told it was a stock pulley.
When I got it, I was told it was a stock pulley.
It appears to be billet.... is that so? If so, lightweight and better than stock obviously. I dont know the exact diameters of the 3 belt faces. Do you have a stock pulley to match it up to?
In other news:
Spent the better part of the evening starting a blower install on a 91 Si rex. Upon disassembly we noticed the TPS was broken(2-pieces). It was running fine.... no codes.... doesn't make sense to me. Plus was running 15.50 last fall with a stock A6 motor w/150K mi. We're using a JR S/C kit for a Y8.... then discovered, I have no place to put the fast idle valve. I'll figure this out in the morning...

Hmmm might want to look into running a Y8 kit on a A6 I think the offsets are well off. Meaning the pulleys might not all line up. Ask streetwerks about it.

I appreciate your thoughts. Actually got all the alignment issues worked out with some creativity and some nice quality machine bushings. Just jamming some pizza in my face and taking a breather right now. Strangely, hit the wall with a fuel pressure regulator issue.....(the oem fuel rail and regualtor collide with the manifold) I'm going right back to it in a minute, get a few more hours in. I'm sure we'll be runnin tomorrow..........
Today we junk-yarded a fuel rail from a Z6.... The A6 fuel regulator needed no modification. Everything is just right on fuel delivery now. Other than that didn't put much effort into it..... need a run to the auto parts store and pick-up some bulk hose and vacuum line of various sizes to finish it out. Might fire it up Monday.... check for leaks, etc. But noticed a bad left front wheel bearing while it was in the air. Thats the biggest issue right now.
Not too bad for something we shouldn't have done to start with.
well, the regulator is at the stock location for a Z6 rail... about 2" left of where it would had been mounted on the A6 stock rail.
BTW: they ganked us for $40 for that piece of extruded aluminum (fuel rail)

BTW: nice pics of your ride on car domain... I should say nice ride in the pics.
Good combination of form and function.
according to the pics you mounted an aftermarket regulator to the stock A6 round/cast fuel rail after removing the end cap??? just wondering for future reference.
The rex we're building probably won't ever see paint etc... Sadly just a track rat. And it has a pristeen interior. Bought it from a drunken driving reject. He played pin-ball with it before selling for $650. Had to get 2 fenders, hood, bumper assembly, windshield. new parts are primered.... the rest tahitian green. It's a sight.
Could have finished the S/C tonight.... bought the rest of needed material and a wheel bearing. But lost my attitude... I can't work without the attitude.

Dave,
Then you just capped off the original regulator port? just wondering
BTW: found and purchased a Hondata s300 on ebay tonight. was only $699 installed on a P28 ecu. All complete ecu and s300... plug and play. I thought it was a pretty good deal.
Other news... lost the eye of the tiger on the car project... lol. But did go to Factory 5 Motoring and pick up our re-bearinged wheel knuckle. And an air filter that will fit in this mess. We actually have everything needed to complete this... then my kid decides to open his wallet and get a Hondata. Like father, like son I suppose. We'll get it running with the OEM ecu. He's got to find some RC engineering 440's to compliment the Hondata. He told me initially he wanted to do this on the cheap... now throwing cash at it. I can't figure out kids.

If you're running a D-series J/R blower and need one of these belts, you know that you have to get them from Jackson Racing. They are not commonly available at auto parts stores because they have no other common domestic application. I have purchased a number of them, and will make them available to those who want an extra one or just need a replacement.
These are "BANDO 3PK1220". The same as Jackson Racing's # 051-162.
I don't have a business, nor do I want to **** off the Moderator(again). So I can't post a price. Let's just say it's worth asking
If you are interested, email me Hondaddy@Hondaddy.com .
I just can't imagine members not being able to buy or trade items amongst ourselves. I never knew it was against the rules to sell things on Honda-Tech.com. You'd never know it by reading.

Woudnt be a power adder. i looked at my A6 , Z6 and Y8 pulley yesterday and that would be roughly a the size of the A6. Which is one of the smallest crank pulleys.
