weird that no matter what motor a jrsc is on, whether its vtec or not, the numbers are all pretty similar.

sohc vtec sucks, I am pretty sure the hicam lobes are the same on a vtec motor as on a nonvtec lobe. Maybe a more agressive cam with larger exhaust valves would make a difference.

Hey guys, thought I would bump up this thread with a couple of questions for you JRSC gurus... Read all 10 pages and gaied a bunch of knowlege

I just picked up a D16y8 JRSC kit with the crank pulley boost upgrade for $900 CAD. I plan to put this on my stock internaled D16a6 (CRX Si). I have had my PM6 socketed, bought DSM 390's, 190 lph pump, so I am pretty much setup.

The problem is, the D16y8 blower pulley seems to be inset towards the motor and about a 1/2" out of alignment from the other pullies (idlers, alt, crank pulleys all line up.) A friend of mine told me that it was like this to clear the shock tower and master cyl on EK's.

-Can this y8 blower pulley be made to work on my setup (spacer??) I am thinking prolly not since it would throw things out of balance...

- From what I read on here JR has discontinued pullies, right? Or is that just the upgrade pullies? Any other souces to get pullies besides Endyn and JR??

Thanks in advance for your help. -Rob-

I'm not sure, you might want to call Jackson. You may need to get the proper IM from Jackson for your exact appication. The m45 blower would be the same, but the IM may be diffent.

sure, I'll try to get one up by tomorrow night at the very latest. It is just on my mock up motor, it will be pretty easy to spot.

Thanks for the quick replys guys...

I am pretty sure the intake manifold is the same, but I could be wrong... I am new to this S/C stuff!

Ok, I just ran into the garage and snaped a couple of pics... http://www.imagestation.com/al...60093

Front

Kinda crappy shot, but you can see the top of the blower pulley above the engine mount (to the left of the stud sticking up) and how far the other pullies stick out.

Top

As you can see, it looks like the blower pulley is in the furthest, then they seem to progressively step out further.

Back

The money shot... you can see how much it is out here...

The Y8 boost upgrade pulley compaired to the stock a6 pulley... See how it's inset a bit?

the blower pulley, is 3.8 a stock size?

This was the car last year, built A6/Z6 minime forged internals, greddy kit.... cracked cyl sleeve #3

Now back to stock, waiting to be modded again!

Sorry for the crappy pics, but I hope that helps what I am trying to explain.

Hey Rob.

The 99-00 Y8 uses a different manifold (JR part #051-647) than the earlier Y8's and A6's use (JR part #051-417) , although all Y8's use the same blower/pulley setup, while A6's use a 4-rib 3.4" blower pulley, although since it uses the same intake manifold as an earlier Y8, I'd guess that the offset of the blower pulley is the same as long as they use OEM crank pulleys with similar offsets (if A=B and B=C, then A=C, thank God for H.S. algebra!). If you have a Y8 crank pulley, then I'm guessing you'd just need an earlier Y8 or A6 manifold to make it all line up right. Unfortunately JR charges $191.67 for the new manifold.

Good luck with it,
Roger

Thanks for the info Roger

I have a plan...
A friend of mine has a Y8 in his CRX and also just bought a JRSC but it is for a Z6... Maybe I will trade him intake manifolds/pullies. Then hopefully it will workout.

If I was building a drag car, sure it would have a turbo under the hood. but it would not be a sohc. but for many applications, the SC is the wise choice. for every day driving, you can't beat them. a sohc SC'd car is very fun car for a daily driver. cheap and reliable.

up for SC </TD></TR></TABLE>

I think most people forget that they spend 90%of their driving time on the street and not the track. Even then which track??? I love to AutoX and the supercharged Honda's, Miata's, Etc are consistently faster and more reliable than the turbo'd cars. The other thing that I still can't understand is what is the point of having anything over 200whp in a small light car like our Civic's??? First of all if you can't hook up for the first 2 gears that's a waste. Secondly when does HP out weigh suspension and braking capabilities? Maybe I think this way cause I don't drive in a straight line everywhere I go!

I am in total agreement with both of you. For a street car a JRSC is hard to beat. NO one builds a JRSC car to be a 1/4 mile monster. If you did you would be a dumbass. I have a LSD and with the power and torque I have (see sig) I still roast 1st pretty hard sometimes. This is on 205/45/16 Yoko ES 100s. I say bring on the 350 WHP FWD turbo car out on the street and watch me light your *** up from a stop cause you get no traction.

look at the STOCK dyno graph that i posted earlier of the D16y7.

i'm sure you can make 150whp with minimal work.

porting the blower will reduce your boost levels, but it also decreases your temps... so it kinda cancels eachother out. BUT, but but..... listen....

but you can add more boost, and the blower will be running at cooler levels than if it wasnt ported. so its a win/win.

welding the holes will make the blower louder. which, of course is way more bad ***!!!

read up on this thread...... so much reading, but so much info.
