My friend who does motor work told me to soak my turbo in oil.....like imagine a giant cooking pot filled with oil and puttting my turbo in it.....is this correct or was he just way too stoned?

I think that by priming the turbo before initial startup will give you the same effect with less mess. hehe... yeah, its very possible that he thought it up while very high.

THAT IS RETARDED! just crank ur engine over and over with the plug wires/ injectors unplugged and it will prime the turbo!

Just starting your engine normally will prime the turbo.
Plenty of people's turbos don't spin at idle. Those that do, won't be damaged from the fraction of a second slowly spinning with no oil pressure.

install the turbo. take off the oil feed line and pour some oil in it while spinning the wheel by hand. then connect the oil feed line and on u go.

by soaking it on oil , he means to actually put some oil inside the acrtridge before startup... same thing as priming it

Re: (phatrick2332)
well i'm actually having a guy that does good work install it for me, is this common knowledge to feed oil through the oil feed line and spin turbine by hand before installation? If this isn't done will it matter?

It is recommended to prime turbos before driving them. If you don't do it, it probably wont be that big of a deal because it would only turn over a few times before it had oil supply anyway.
