oil feed lines how long is too long??
I ran my oil feedlines from my oil sending unit in the back of the block under the manifold today to a 3 way tee fitting... the line from the OSU to the Tee is about a foot and a half and runs under the manifold to the passenger side firewall than from the Tee is another section of SS feed that is about 2 feet long.. which i have running above IM runners over driver E mount to the turbo..... is this lineconfiguation too long??? I could see why it would be but I got it all with a a line kit and didi the best i Could

i dont believe length makes too much of a difference, seeing as its pressure fed. but there might be some minor starvation or something...
id also like to know if this is detrimental or not. or rather, how detrimental.

I'm really not sure what the consequence of that setup is, but I think longer lines are detrimental.
As oil is pushed through a line, there is pressure exerted on the walls of the line. That pressure is essentially wasted. So with longer lines, there is more wasted pressure because there is more surface area for the oil to push against.
So even though I just made up that theory, I imagine that excessively long lines might cause a slight drop in pressure and cause more of a strain on the oil pump.
That being said, I have a 3 foot line going to my oil sender and it doesn't seem to be a problem. The pressure reading is normal.

If you ran your feedline to the back of the car and then back to your turbo I doubt it would make any real world difference at all. (except needing more oil itself)
In a deep dark room at NASA it might make a difference though.

Just keep it away from the manifold and exhaust housing as much as possible. This is the result of a Goodridge stainless line failing, it was about 4 months old and just internally failed one day (racing) and it spewed 85 PSI of oil pressure all over the manifold, not good!

The longer you lines are the more volume you are forcing your oil pump to fill. You want to keep your lines as short as possible. Doing things like adding oil coolers and oil filter relocation kits has the same effect.
