How hard should v-tec kick in on a supercharged d16z6?
I just bought a 95 si hatch with a jrsc on it and I can't really hear or feel v-tec kick in, I'm used to the b16 I had being really loud on engagement but have never driven this particular car n/a so I don't have a comparison. So i'm wondering if it's that noticeable on these engines? and can you really hear a difference? btw it's got a short ram intake on it so I can hear the engine pretty well

On a well tuned FI motor vtec should be almost seemless. Full boost on the other hand, now thats a different story.

With a JRSC on a motor like a d16, its gonna muffle the vtec sound regardless. You should rarely "feel" vtec kick in. If you are, most likely your losing power somewhere along the rpm line. Vtec should always have a smooth transition from the low cam, to the high cam hp wise. Wherever the low cam starts to lose power, is where vtec should kick in.
ya poor bastard .

VTEC SHOULD RIP YOUR HEAD OFF UNDER FORCED INDUCTION.....sohc vtec is nothing special....i have my high cam come on at 3100 rpms so when the turbo spools its on the high cam, then there is no trickery between middle of boosting and then vtec engaging.......you wont feel vtec and with FI you wont even hear it......vtec no vtec who cares when ya got boost....

Man you guy's are brutal. Anyone with this setup? any way to tell for sure the car is actually changing over? The guy had a "performance" ecu put tn the car before the supercharger was put on which is starting to worry me.

Was this performance ECU geared towards boosted cars, or for N/A applications?

I'm not sure, I've gotta call the guy and find out but I'm scared it's one of those Jet ecu programs or something, If I had to guess I would say for n/a setup b/c it looks like he was trying to get the most out of the engine then deceided to go with th sc
