Re: d16 vtec (chronodyne28)
If it has a cylindrical solenoid near the upper left of the valve cover next to the intake manifold with 2 or so plugs of wires.

Re: d16 vtec (chronodyne28)
If the motor is a d16z6 it has vtec on the intake ports only. That's all the help I can give you. I already told you where the vtec solenoid is.

you do NOT know enough about honda motors in general to make assumptions like that.
there are many different types of engines that come with vtec,
some have lots more power than others,
unfortunately for you, the d16z6 is one of the least powered vtec motors available(not including some economy versions of vtec out there).
it has 125 horsepower, and does in fact have vtec,
it is single over head cam, and in its stock form it is practically impossible for someone like you to hear or feel the vtec kicking in.
your motor is worth a damn,
its worth around $5-700.
because it has vtec does not automatically mean it will be as fast as a freakin corvette or something.
there are other vtec motors out there with MUCH higher outputs,
the integra type R motor for example(b18c5) is a dual overhead cam vtec motor, with .2 more liters of displacement, and it has around 200horsepower.
this motor is also worth a damn,
its worth around $3000 actually,
as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for"
so dont expect your EX or SI or whatever, to be the fastest thing on the planet,
when we both know you didnt pay all that much for it in the first place.

Re: d16 vtec (Ignitecivic)
My Z6 gave a kick at 4600 rpm's. For what the motor is, I was pretty impressed.
I may have a F22 now, but keeping my name in memory on my EH. Still SOHC though!
