Default hondata is acting funny is it boost cut?

i had my car runed a while ago on the stock motor to about 12-13 psi and we stopped. now my compresion is lower and i am running a test pipe and i noticed my boost goes higher to about 15-16 psi and it was fine but lately i have been hitting what feels like boost cut or something. when im hitting full boost the motor will cut out and my CEL will flash for a second and go away if i turn the boost down back to about 12 psi it doesnt do it anymore but when i turn the boost back up to about 15 psi ill hit that CUT again and the CEL will flash for a split second and go away.

does anyone think my hondata is doing this? my tuner is out of town and i cant ask him but i think he might have programmed my hondata to cut out if i spiked to a certain boost level coudl this be true?

yep that would be the boost cut.

Do you have a stock map sensor or a GM?

It should be the boost cut, however i have seen a car where it was actually faulty map sensor wiring.

More than likley it's a boost cut, sometimes when you switch to the 3 bar map from the stock map it's easy to forget to reset the boost cut for more than 11 psi.

What code do you guys throw for boost cut. if any of you have jumped it after throwing the CEL? I hit it and pulled the code and it showed one that wasn't even listed... just curious.

well im not sure whats happening then because i am running 13 psi no problem but when i boost 15 psi it does it. and both psi levels are above 11psi.

what exactly is this boost cut? what does it really do is it bad for the motor?

I think its like the rev limiter, it either cuts spark or fuel.

If you have the 3 bar map sensor, your tuner could have very well put in a 13psi cut, or any cut for that matter to keep things safe or at the level he tuned it at.

The other thing to do is to datalog the run and see what code it's throwing, Hondalogger will show that.

oh ok no problem... what is it exactly that the hondata does that causes this though. is it fuel cut? spark cut? all dependent on that set boost level?

Right on. Do you have a way to send me the Hondata File? I can tell you from there if it is on.

Sorry if someone already posted this but I don't have a chance to read all the posts.

You'll know dude. It is basically the same as a rev limiter. The car will fall on it's nose.

Yep, just flat out dies pretty much. Almost like the motor just shuts down completely for a moment.

Scared the crap out of me too, lol. Mine would throw a code that wasn't even listed in the helms when I would hit boost cut, so I dunno. It was 30 something, can't remember.
