Engine Break-in with turbo...?
sorry, if the post has been covered, but searching didnt gimme a definitive answer...
i just rebuilt my single cam, all stock internals, but new rings and bearings...
can i break it in with the turbo? the reason tht i wanna do this is, i dont have the stock exhaust mani anymore, and my exhaust is custom fabbed to mate with the downpipe, so i gotta change a lotta stuff to break-in NA. can i just break it in with the turbo, but keep the rpm's low, so i dont boost too much??

Some break em in with boost and there probably isnt a technical problem with that. However I prefer to break em in NA because theres usualy something you forgot or something loose or something wrong/broken and its better to work out the kinks without 20 lbs of boost.

Keeping the RPM low means you don't spool the turbo, and keeps the pressure in the cylinders down. I would say if you just rebuit it and installed a turbo, do the usual 700 miles breakin. If not a even 1000 miles, just to be safe.

I would boost around 5 or so psi, as long as it is followed with a little time in deep vacuum. That's what I did, It helps to seat the rings a little actually.

just pull the spring on ur wastegate so u don't spool the turbo and break it in driving around
there are 2 ways to seat the rings...check it out
