Is my turbo weak?
I took off the charge pipe to the intake manifold and rev'd the engine by hand and felt the air coming out of the charge pipe...and until like 6k RPM (I had someone watching the tach) it doesn't feel like enough boost is being spit out to actually boost my speed.. Is this the infamous "slow spool" or just a weak turbo? I also watched my wastegate arm that opens up the exhaust bleed and it did not move at all the whole time I rev'd the engine.

My setup is a 1993 Del Sol Si with a FUCKED *** oil leaking smoky turbo. I have to go get a rebuilding quote on it on Monday. My turbo is pretty small, and generates pressure in neutral, but I guess it takes load for it to boost hard.

Well I have a place here locally called Thompson Turbo. They will charge 120 for labor and balancing the shaft, and like 100 for a kit that includes bearings and all the seals. Is that a good deal?
