Re:
Here is a strange one.. I had a D16Y7 engine with stock HG and stock head bolts and made 200whp all day long with it and never had a head lifting issue..
But a friend of mine had the lifting problem at like 170whp.. Did I just get lucky??
Anyway, I always just use ARP moly lube and torque them down maybe 2 foot pounds more than arp says to and its worked perfect in all my b-series engines.. Did the same thing in my friends d15b7 and never had a problem again..

well mine lasted atleast 1 1/2 years before trashing and this was on a daily driven Y7 @ 18 PSI..24/7
ARPs where torqued to 60lbs in 3 steps.. When we installed the new HG we re torqued to 65lbs/ft

i used a step retard,
0-3psi - .45deg/psi
3-5psi - .55deg/psi
5-7psi - .65deg/psi
7-9psi - .75deg/psi
9-11psi - .95deg/psi
HMMMM u know i just realized that!
i was using a stock p28 map!! i guess timing is different for a z6 motor than a y8 motor huh... does anybody have a map for a y8 with the right ignition settings, or point me in the right direction?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Very different. Check out the stock P2P maps on pgmfi.org to get an idea of where the Y8 timing is stock. It requires far less timing than the Z6 this could definitely be the cause of your problems. Also, Xenocron has a couple of Y8 maps on his website that you can use to get an idea of where to start at.

Re: (daveG)
When I reused my ARP headstuds, I didn't use the lube as I ran out of that many months ago. I used alittle motor oil to put them in and torqued to 65ft/lbs, would that be okay?

time for me to chime in after 4 pages. Im thinking about going d-turbo in my cx. I have had experience with b-turbo(which dosnt see this head lift problem ) With stock bolts on 10 psi tuned properly would has any one been safe from headlift.? seems like most of you are running arp which seems like it might be a convervative saftey measure for longevity.I dont need longevity i just need cheap and quick lol once the d pops ill go b again with the under dog b20 block ! but hopefully the d will last a while
