Black intercooler...?
At one point in time i saw someone with a black intercooler...Just wondering if anyone knows who makes it. I thought the stealth aspect was pretty cool. If anyone knows please let me know

Re: Black intercooler...? (ProjectNoob)
You can either paint it black, use black pantyhose, or have it anodized. I painted my old intercooler and now am running a full-race anodized intercooler. I think full-race is the only company that offers it on their intercoolers but I could be wrong.
Here is a pic of mine with the full-race FMIC on. I have pics at home of it without the front end.

Anodizing an itnercooler is probably the best way to get the intercooler black, and still keep the heat disipation abilities 100% Painting it with black paint will block heat disipation. I woudl anodize first, if that wasn't available, radiator black paint.

Re: (pimpwagon)
The key is to just dust the paint on. You don't need to put heavy coats on it, all your doing is dusting it to break up the black. It doesn't take much at all. Larry

I painted mine with a few light coats of flat black, it works great! It just starts to chip off after a few weeks, but just throw another light coat on and you are good to go.

Getting a tank full of stuff anodized costs about $80. I'd just do that, it's permanent, prevents oxidation, and won't affect heat dissipation.

If you really wanted to get fancy you could do this http://www.swaintech.com/store.asp?pid=10968.
Although the price is 125 to 225 for intercoolers, so if you are on a budget anodizing would be a better option.

i used bbq paint on mine- spuer light coats, I'm certain the effects on efficiency are trivial... unless you SOAK your IC in paint.
Just a light dusting is all you need.

Just do a couple light coats of the bbq paint. Someone on here actually dyno'd the difference between painted and un-painted and there wasnt a difference if i remember correctlly.
The paint isnt gonna interfer with the heat dissipation, unless you soak it.

Re: Black intercooler...? (TURBODC4TEG)
Here's mine....
Looks dull, but it is just dusty. I even painted the t-bolt clamps. It cost me $50 to anodize. Having my girl go in with a low cut top cut the price by $50 as they originally quoted me $100.
A search would also do you good there are a LOT of threads on this.......
