Default painting intercooler???

hey I was wondering if you could paint a intercooler. If you can what paint do you use and how do you do it. I wanted to do this so you can't see the intercooler as much but don't want to lose power. thanks for any help??

Paint it with regular latex paint and then use the search button when all the fins are clogged to find out what you did wrong

I used regular spray paint and spray painted it the same way you would spray paint anything. ::

I just left the grill on the bumper...so it's partially hidden.

But to paint I would just use some regular old spray paint.

Don't try to cover the whole thing in one coat. I did about five on mine, so that the fins wouldn't get clogged yet the whole thing would be covered. Then again, I have OCD...

Yeah, um, the end tanks you can go crazy on, but for the fins, just do a light coat of flat black to take the shine off. If you are going for stealth, you could also use the pantyhose method.

1) anodizing black
2) RADIATOR PAINT
3) matte balck rattle can ..

most whont spend on getting it anodized so use radiator paint u get at car part stores .. better at dissipating heat then reagular flat black .. if its used on radiators im shure it works on intercoolers . prob not much of a diff over regular paint . but its a purpouse paint so im going to use it ..

i read somewhere on here that your supposed to anodize the intercooler because if you paint it it will block air or something like that. it will reduce air flow or something.

Most shops that specialize in coatings such as Swain-tech, use a thermal shedding coating that is supposed to help the intercooler dissapate heat better. Whether or not it actually works or if it is just plain spray paint, I have no idea, but it cost me $200 to have my PWR intercooler coated.

LOL hide the intercooler. No turbo car can hide that whistle of the turbo.Makes no sense unless you think the intercooler is ungly and trying to hide it.

I just liked drivin up behind people stock looking- it avoided a lot of confrontations. Also, when at a stop light, no one in oncoming traffic gawks and stares at you. I'm not saying paint your intercooler to avoid recognition, I'm just making the point that I painted mine so that no one would know/care what I put my money towards. After all, it doesn't matter to anyone else what I put into my car...

^much better

Like to hide mine cause I love rice and my car is <FONT COLOR="red">"Hot Rice"</FONT> so no one expects it to be fast. Until they hear "psshhh" I just laugh out loud when people jaws drop and say "That thing is boosted...!"....
Ownage at it's best...

More of my money has gone to performance than looks, and nows the time to turn back to fixing my outside more.
