Post Re: B16a Turbo Setups

i have a 18g greddy turboed b16 ef si hatch. im runnin 10psi with rc550cc injectors converted to obd1 p28 ecu chipped with hondata s100 on stock internals. buying everything for the bottom end today should be done in about two weeks and dynoed and tuned around the same time. any suggestions let me know.
-planned work to be done- je forged pistons, h beam eagle rods, comet .05 headgasket, arp headstuds and rodbolts, king bearing kit,obx turbo mani t3 flange with 40mm wastegate to convert from the internal wastegate (no problems with boost kreep yet but dont want any.lol) aiming for 350-400 whp which will seem a lot faster with the 18g do to full boost at low rpm. i will post picks and dyno chart when done.

i just read almost every single post in this thread. Basically i want to run a turbo for a budget that would make at LEAST 300whp with stock everything. The b16 is basically brand new, with dc headers, short ram, and greddy radiator. in a 93 eg coupe. Can someone give me any ideas of what turbo to buy? Would it be better to do cams, pistons, and then turbo? or could i get more than 300 whp with stock internals stock block/head. Note: the b16 is almost brand new.

Love your set-up man. I'm in the process of finishing my turbo b16 right now. I just have a question about your catch can set-up. I want to run the lines out of the front of the valve cover. I'm just curious how that set-up works exactly.

I've done some research on it but I can't find the info I'm looking for. Can some of you explain the theory behind it. Also I'm running the Greddy style catch can, so can I still run that set-up?

Thanks

what kind of numbers are you putting down? my tuner told me that my intake is holding me back big time. currently its like an accordian type plastic? piece. just run because i couldnt get an aluminum pipe made in time. once i get that piece and get a boost control to keep my boost steady throughout the tuner said i should be around 300whp. im not going to push more than that without going inside.

I'm putting on my setup on the 18th so I will have #'s then.

You have stock b16 intake mani? I've heard that's good up to 350 hp... I'm going to upgrade that drag manifold and this 2.5in piping. Both not cheap items to replace but that's what I think is holding back the hp.

yeah they def arent the best but i have a feeling if i upgrade the manifold as well as put a full 3in exhaust on the car i will be making too much power where i would worry about internals and all. and yeah stock intake manifold stock everything but clutch and turbo kit.

It's an HX35. Right now my gate opens at 10psi because my clutch is slipping like a pornstars vagoo if I take it any higher. The actual threshold of that turbo is about 25psi and maxes out around 650

Yep if your open up your exhaust and switch out for a decent mani you would be making around 330 on 10.5 psi. Ofcourse that's a rough estimate but close I bet. You could do it on stock internals just leave your boost down. lots of people run 350 on stock internals and much higher.

yeah i know but i also daily the car minimum of like 50miles a day and im already close to my clutch capacity and if something breaks its bad news haha. once i get a daily i will start doing stuff like that and maybe rip it apart and do some internal stuff. but im happy with my numbers now. i always had a pretty strong one. 158whp with just intake and exhaust back in the day.

Oh I see, well yea I daily to but not nearly 50 miles so running my cm stage 3 isn't to big of a deal and neither is the power.
