** The E85 Thread **
i've seen 500whp cars only run high 10s so his car can actually run a high 10 with good driving and a good track
gringo-I didn't change it becuase Honestly I just didnt want to spend the cash on it. I've done enough maybe this summer I might. Im wantting to go on several trips this year and it's just wasnt necessary. it's an hour job if i wanted to do it.

well that bites! you now know you can gain a good amount of power!
Well the track Sucked *****.. i was running like the same times i ran last year on street tires with slicks.. never turned the car up to 14+psi.. didnt think it would be worth it, track wasent hooking worth a **** so why do it... i never even got a good launch, i was half throttling the launches and granny shifting 2nd no traction at all with the slicks in 2nd... 3rd spun a little too.. gay... o well i guesss i cant expect much for the first night.. i did run 3 consistant good traps 123.54/123.52/123.94... i have to remember i was running the car @ 100% full interior, 3/4 tank of gas and stock hood.. probably weighed somewhere in the 2700-2725 range.. so its up on weight for sure...
When the track gets better i will get there.. How was the bday?!?!!
Something really wierd i noticed at the track, Last year i was able to run all night. there is a noise limit to run after 10pm (90DB). i was lik 89.5 DB last year. i have done nothing else to my car other than the cam install. Didnt change the exhaust or the dumptube. Now the car is 5DB louder.
WTF... i guess the longer duration and higher lift on the cams MUST have made it louder...

<--- Owner of the white EF at Brian's shop. I didn't make it out to PIR on Friday, too cold
. Spent the whole evening in the garage finishing up the catch can and valve cover. best of luck, I hope you get 10's this season.

And yeah it does kind of suck not being able to just pull into any random gas station and full up.. but you get used to it after a while..
I'm looking to run e85 in my subaru powered bug. It has cooling issues on hot days. I'm wondering if the e85 will help. I was going to redo my whole rad setup (was in back and was going to move to the front) but might tune on e85 first and see what happens. A 20 degree drop in coolent temp would be more than enough. I know straight alcohol will do this but does e85 have the same affect?
My shop gets it up here directly from the plant before it is cut and turned into E85... They used to be able to get it for cheappppp!! like cheaper than what E85 was, but now they caught on and they have to pay RoadTax on it..so it ends up being about $3.50-$4 a galon... still wayyy cheaper than C16/Q16/VP Import....
I am not sure if you will se a 20 degree drop, but i would definetly like to see some results!!! I have noticed that the car does take a bit longer to get up to temp, and Cold starts can be a pain sometimes

the engine runs cooler as in EGT's Ethanol is not going to make your coolant temps go down 20 degrees
Alcohol and Methanol cool dramatically more than Ethanol, I highly doubt you will see a drop in coolant temp from using it. I was still creeping into the 215deg area during the summer last year using E85 while in traffic.
$50 honda-tech marketplace fan from an unmentioned sponsor

Granted I am talking 95 degrees out with a 1/2 size Civic Radiator sitting in traffic, ball bearing turbo etc. It would creep a little higher too but as soon as started moving it would quickly drop.
While this thread is active, I figured I would post some pictures of my engine that has been running Gas for about 1500 miles NA and then switched over to E70-E85 for 1500miles Boosted. I saw some threads a while back about Ethanol pitting ports in the cylinder head and some other dumb stuff.
Anyway I stand firm in my statements that E85 is "unharmful", looks at the pics and judge for yourself.....
