Yeah the driver NOT drifting can sandbag. The driver NOT drifting can be an inferior driver. The car the non-drifter is driving can be on tires with less grip.

Haha!

Right . . .

When was the last time a Japanese driver won ANY world championship series?

Yeah - Japanese drivers don't win world championships because they turn down the millions of contracts they receive every year so that they can continue to live in Okinawa and drive buses because that is much more honorable.

I'LL GO OUT RIGHT NOW AND READ THEIR BIO'S AND LEARN ALL I CAN ABOUT THEIR LIFE...AND NOT CARE ABOUT WHAT I ACTUALLY ENCOUNTER IN DAY TO DAY PASSINGS....

LOL..You two are a pair.

EDIT: Nice to see people who criticize something they've never experienced...Have fun in the thread you two...and don't let your post counts get to ya...

You don't encounter dick.

How can you say these people you know are the best ever when you have no idea who the hell Bondurant and Barber are?

And if you aren't willing to go out and learn about these people why should I learn about yours.

My saying your boyeeZ suck and not worth knowing is the same thing you are saying about Bondurant and Barber.

In the end it doesn't matter because I still think drifting is gay, I still think it is slow AND I have infinitely more track time and racing experience under my belt than you do.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 4AGE &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

LOL...HOW DO YOU REASON THIS...

Just because you don't have grip you say you don't have speed...If a car is moving at 90 mph and looses grip in a controlled slide...at no more less than 120 degrees you saying he MUST always be slower??? The weight and momentum of the car carries it keeping speed...simple...

When you enter a turn...if you are going to iniate a drift...you WILL NOT be going the same speed as somebody trying to grip drive it...you will be going faster...THUS, you will not have to be at a LESSER speed...you could actually be at the same speed they are...loosing only enough speed to = their gain from where they lost the speed at the entrance.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Weight and momentum maintains speed? Thats just laughable. Your understanding of basic physics is pretty pathetic. You idiot.

If you have exceeded the tires grip, you can no longer accelerate out of the turn, and your lap times are slower. Exit speed &gt; everything else on track. But you've never been on one, so you dont know.

Its call the friction circle, look it up.

i think it was BJ, obviously you have some reading comprehension problems because people aren't claiming that drifting is the most time efficent way around the track. Drifting is about having the best control over your car and maneuvering it around the track. Personally i like it, its cool if some of you dont, its obvious there is a big crowd for each side. But saying stuff like ohhh its a bunch of retards wasting tires, thats just stupid.

My god, I seriously busted out laughin when I read this!

EDIT: Bob Bondurant and Skip Barber are two of the most respected, long lasting teachers/drivers of this era IMHO. I couldn't tell you the name of one "respected" drifting champion.

And Drew, now we're a pair..watch out RJ and Greg

Ok you bring to the table a couple of unknown Mad Driftez that are part of a fad that in a year or 2 the masses wont give 2 ***** about and then insult 2 of the greatest racing instructors in the US.

These people know about Skip
http://www.skipbarber.com/comp...uates

These know Bob
http://www.bondurant.com/pages/ProGrads.html

Alberto Ascari and Enzo are probably spinning in their graves that someone would think drifting is faster then real driving and have the Scuderia mentioned in their sig.

im not going to sit here and quote **** because im tired but you road racing heros are getting too simple minded here. i have respect for both rj and drew and their abilities on the track but it seems as if you guys are not even trying to understand the argument here. i understand that grip driving is the best way through a corner but there are exceptions, as there is with everything in life. i stated that im aware that there is really no corner on any race track that i have ever seen where it would be beneficial, but on hairpin turns - serious hairpin turns where you are in first or second gear - using a slide to change the position of the car while at the same time compromising the loss of speed in the slide for the reduced braking at the entry will benefit because you have situated yourself at the apex in the same time as if you were braking, but your apex is different than that of the grip one and you will be able to accelerate more aggressively.

i dont care if you guys want to argue that its not pracitcal on any track, that is not my point. my point is that there is a time where it can be beneficial and im stating that time. im sure there going to be a bunch of other **** that really dont know **** but are just following along that will chime in but its whatever. the point is that you havent tried it so you dont truely know for sure. its arrogant to think that there is only one way to do something and that one way is always the best. there will always be an exception or something that is not constant. law of nature.

Drifting and grip driving are two very different mediums. It's sad that you closed minded morons can't see the difference.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> I dont care who is driving the cars, if they are doing it by drifting, it wont be faster than if they were just plain racing. period.</TD></TR></TABLE>

No **** Sherlock, of course a grip driver will be faster than a drifter any moron can tell you that. Drift competitions are just about having fun, displaying car control and skill. So what about Figure Skating? or Gymnastics? nothing really different there.Motorsport isn't always about being the fastest from point A to point B, there are different levels of it. You of all people should know that.

No we understand the argument just fine, and its absolutely wrong. Thats what you arent understanding.

If you have exceeded the traction limit of the tires, you can no longer accelerate out of the corner, and its slower. Simple physics, its not even an argument.

Jesus ******* Christ - READ the damn thread!

Let me give you a recap here:

Drift Lovers: "Drifting rocks!"
Track Drivers: "Grip driving is faster through the turns than drift"
Drift Lovers: "We know that but drifting is tight anyway"
Doriftos: "Well actually in certain isolated cases drifting is faster than grip"
Track Drivers: "No it really isn't"
Doriftos: "Yes it is - you are stupid if you don't think so - just ask the bus drivers in Tokyo that I know"
Track Drivers: "We don't need to - it is simple physics"
Doriftos: "Yes it is - you all are dumb and even though you have tons more practical experience on track than we do you are still wrong"
You: "Hey! Everybody knows drifting is slower through the corners so stop telling us"

See how your *** is way late and your addition is 99% useless? Your comments would fall in somewhere BEFORE the Doriftos came into it.
