My 88 std hatch
seems like lately every minute i'm not at work i'm being yelled at for not cleaning up a mess or not spending enough time with the g/f or for not spending enough time on with the family, so this thing has all but been shoved to the back. i had plans to finish the tuck today but i was called into work because my **** tard fellow employee's can't keep up the slack. plus every pay day i have seems like a bill happens to pop up that is due that my ****ing money keeps getting diverted to. *SIGH* so no funds or time for the civic.
woo hoo!! i have an update! lol it's a small one, but an update all the same. i had the whole day off, and wasn't even able to get to my car untill 10:30 tonight. been busy running around town, like always, because we are going to have to move here in a month. landlord says they have an offer on the house, so they're going to be giving us a 30 day notice. lame.
any ways i was able to get my fly wheel removed from my b1, and after attempting to remove the crank pully bolt from my b7 with an impact gun and failing, i thought hey why not try the trick i learned early from the wrath of the crank pully bolt trick. so i stuck a piece of 2x4 in between the crank and the side of the block, then supporting the block with half my weight, i used a 2 foot cheater bar on the end of my 1/2 inch craftsman ratchet to bust that sucker loose. i was so happy when i heard the loud POP it made. then i started cleaning the grease off my b7, and this is how it looks so far:

also, i attached my b1's mount piece to the b7, and almost finished stripping it of any accessories. all that's left is the crank and associated parts, and the oil pressure switch. i decided that this attempt is going to have all it's parts kept in a nice rubber maid bin.

got some more work done today. ran some more wires on the tuck, went from just the positive bright wire to both plugs for the corner hooked up, bumper started, bright wired and loomed, ground distribution attached to frame, side marker wires ran, and i reinstalled my hid bulb into my passenger side headlight. going to the junk yard tomorrow to try to find a pair of fender liners, and a clean lx or ex sedan so i can pull the front body harness off of it. i want my power mirrors done right this time. no ghetto stuffs. going to have it wired factory like through the fuse box, and might even get the full factory power door lock setup so i don't have to use actuators. we'll see.
i'm STILL looking for two ls meshies (or webs or w/e you want to call them) condition does not matter, as long as i can mount tires to them, and they aren't bent. curbing is ok.

went to the junk yard today, picked up a full front half of the body harness from a 90 lx sedan, along with the complete front door harnesses, door handles and power window switches, and a MINT, never been modified dash harness. will go back for the window regulators at a later date. also i picked up a 90-91 style cluster cover from this thing that had a d15b1 in it with an si intake manifold with an hf tb, had full dx interior yet had a glass moon roof with a push back cover. was primered so i didn't know what model it was, and i forgot to check then vin.
decided against the cruise control swap, too much work to do, plus i'd have to figure out where to mount the cruise switch since the hatch and crx cluster covers do not have a third hole for cc. but i will have legit, oem wiring for the power windows and power mirrors, a thing i did not have before.

well the power mirror thing was easy. pretty much color match all the wires, then there's a ground and a power wire going to the switch, the switch does all the work. windows, i'll have to figure those out. i've read mixed info on how they work, so we'll see what happens. i'm just using an lx sedan harness so it's stock and clean and all the dash plugs are there, as apposed to the extra wiring i had running all over the place before. i'll have more updates tonight. i'm still debating on weather or not to use factory lx power door locks or if i should stick with my after market actuators.
oh man am i like a kid in a candy shop right now. that 90 mint dash harness is no longer minty mint. it's sad, yes, but it's for a good cause. i was trying to figure out how to make my 88 body harness work with the 90 dash harness. turns out all i have to do is re direct 3 wires for the flasher. the rest is simply un taping, de pinning and re pinning and re taping and what not for the defroster, the dimmer switch and the hazzard switch. so stoked!!! i'll have pix and what not tomorrow

i can hook you up with the power window stuff. but mine will apply to the jdm ones.
-pretty much same idea as the mirrors, color match the wires from switches to motors.
-then there are 3 wires left over on the passenger side.
-2 of those wires will color match to the driver side switch, connect them. this is how driver controls the passenger
-now the left over wire on the passenger side is the power wire
-on the driver side there will be grounds i looped the ground to make only 1 ground wire.
if you like i can txt you a pic of my LHD switches and plugs so you can see what i mean.
lmk if you need help, they were actually pretty simple to wire up after i figured it out.
cars coming along, keep us updated.

pm sent!
i would just like to say that for any one attempting to do ANY wiring on your civic, download or purchase a helms. the wiring diagrams in them are A LIFESAVER
well i didn't get as much acomplished today as i had hoped, kate distracted me then my buddy jesse stopped by and want me to help him swap out his subs in his bug, and that took about an hour, but my dash harness is almost complete. and, in the general fashion of things, i'm doing it the rather hard way, or so it seems right now, but will look good and will be good when i'm done. will post pix and what not tomorrow
whew! i finally finished my dash harness retrofit. took longer than i thought since i ended up soldering the Integra cluster plugs to my harness, instead of butt connectors. next time i perform a cluster swap, i am so just going to de pin and re pin everything...
any ways to basically do what i did, which is modify my stock 88 dash harness so that i can properly use a 90-91 style cluster cover on my car with out having two dimmer switches, two hazard switches and two defroster switches, you have to get a parts harness. untape it and de loom it, and then remove the three plugs you'll need so they are by them selves. you'll end up having these three plugs and wiring by it's self:
The dimmer switch:

The defroster switch:

And the Hazard switch:

you then want to remove the hazard switch from the 88/89 multifunction switch

then you have to take the three wires from the 90/91 hazard switch and put them in their own separate plug, and then de pin the matching 3 wires from the 88/89 hazard plug and re run them to where the dash harness plugs into the fuse box. pretty much everything else just hooks into what is already there, for two of the defroster wires the best way to replace the plug is to de pin the black/yellow and black/green from the main plug's end and then re pin the new ones
here's how mine looks now that it's done:

hazard switch plug added:

rough fitment of cluster:

all plugs fit where they're supposed to be

some day i'll be able to run this and have it not lie about my redline...

just thought i'd share some of the honda related literature i have...
Three books, the honda manuals were a gift to me from my sisters b/f

full online manual:

and several massive pdf files i have on my compture (the desktop pic is what i wish my car looked like, minus the rims)

so yeah my dash harness is now complete, i will FINALLY be getting back to my body harness starting tomorrow (today? lol) and should have my car looking mostly like a car by tuesday or wednesday.

so glad i have two days off starting tomorrow. i'm craving the accomplished feeling that i'm going to get when i'm done with all the wiring stuff, and lately work just feels like it's just getting in the way.
well in the last two days i've done a crap ton of wiring work, go back to work for four days starting tomorrow but it's afternoon shifts so i'll have time before work to work on her some more in the morning. pretty much i've installed my door harnesses, ran the front power window and mirror harness, modified them, and some other misc. lame boring massively time consuming stuff, but i'm getting close to being done with the wire tuck part. then it will be down to engine harness and then engine and trans and my car will be running again! soooooooo exited! i've had to ad 3 relays so far to my wiring system. fog lights, HID's, and power windows. and i previously added two relays for the keyless entry. so i'm trying my best to hide 5 relays. i have good places for 3 of the five, but the fog and headlight relays are what is stumping me. oh well.
got some updates!! i am ALMOST done with the drivers side wiring. i have to hook up the switch for the fog lights, install a fuse for the fogs, and run some speaker wire from the amp to the wires comming from the door and it'll be done. then it's just finishing the tuck for the passenger side and wiring will be DONE!! FINALLY!! lol
here's some pix
i used some oem connectors for the door lock actuators:

here's how i mounted my relays. i'm not quite done cleaning up the wiring yet, still a bit too messy.

here's where i mounted my crossover for my front speakers

and here's the front half of the door

bout to do more work here in a min, just have to finish up cleaning my room first since i cannot find ANYTHING in it

thanks man! i miss driving my car in the worst way. maybe i'll have it done by my birthday (end of march). all this warm weather we've been having here is driving me nuts! mini vans are no fun for smashing and cruising and doing much other then gettin close with the big bootied mama's and bumpin beats hella. oh and junk yard runs

on a side note, i'm REALLY wanting to swap my ex knuckles onto my car while i'm doing all this work, and since i'm going to be installing my stainless steel brake lines any ways, but i NEED two more ls webs. i have two, and no one seems to be selling just two in the oregon/washington area, alteast that i can find... if i have to i'll buy four and have two spares, but i'm cheap... lol
sorry for the shameless plug.

i also need to find a lx engine wire harness on the passenger side that runs from the firewall to the headlights and relay or maybe just the whole damn wiring harnesses in the entire engine bay
i need two more of these:
. i've seen them called both. i got two of them on a parts car. i guess the theives that stole it before i bought it stole the rims off of it (prev. owner was a mega rice burner, put 18's in the rear and 17's up front) and when he got it back it had two of the ls rims and two random ghetto five spoke rims that looked like ***. i kept the two thinking it would be easy to just find two, and i did find one pair down in wood burn but the guys ad kept getting flagged, and it seems like every one only wants to sell all four. lol

word thanks man. i'll keep an eye on that thread, if they're still there next week they're mine. seems like they're popular rims i guess.
as far as what i did to my car today, i added a fuse thingy to the power wire going to my fog relay, found a permanent home for my key less entry relays, finally hooked my passenger side door lock actuator up, messed with the routing of the rod, mounted my passenger side crossover, and soldered and ran the wire from the stock speaker wiring to the cross over. i am FINALLY on the passenger side of the wiring, which to me means i'm over the hump as far as the body wiring goes. still have to figure out the obd-0 to obd-1 conversion

well so far today i cleaned a TON of garbage out of her today, will vacuum it out tomorrow, and ran all the speaker wire in the passenger door for the mid and the tweeter. i'm waiting untill i get the power windows working to put the door panels back in. will have more updates in a bit.
