My 88 std hatch
more updates!
today i finished running the wiring for my passenger side ballast and fog light, hooked up a ground wire that wasn't hooked up, figured out that my fan wiring was hooked up wrong when i made my relay set up, mounted my fan wiring and loomed it and bolted up the fan relay in a hidden spot that's easy to get to with out removing anything.
then finally, after it sitting since about a week after i pulled my motor, i finished taking my trans apart. got some interesting results.
the two end bearings on the countershaft are bad. one has some play, and the other would strait up come off if the first bearing and a gear wasn't in the way, yet the inner race stays put.
also, my shift fork for 1-2 is broken. a big chunk of the guide broke off
so i was able to tear apart my blown up dx trans and salvage the forks out of it, going to try to see if i can use them. at the end of february (i wish sooner, we'll see how things go) i WILL be ordering a rebuild kit. not going to worry about the diff. bearings for now, as i would like to ad LSD down the road, but as of right now it's just out of my budget.
any ways once it is confirmed on weather or not i can use the shift forks i will move forward with assembly of the trans. however in the mean time i can go about cleaning the 19 years of nasty gunk out of the bell housing and the out side of the trans. it's wierd, the inside was clean as day one... the out side made it look like it was burried. oh well, not when i'm done.

yup. going to go finish the tuck tonight, i have to get creative about where i mount the ac relays so they are out of sight and out of the way yet accessable in a flash.
well i am all but done with the wire tuck. all i have left to do on the exterior is run the ac harness, which i'm leaving seperate from the body harness, and hook up the horn. i replaced my horn with one from the 90 sedan i got my other harnesses out. i did this because my horn is a spade connector (like the plug for speakers) as apposed to the 90 horn which uses a plug like the engine plugs.

the plug i'm using for my fogs and my grill lighting

my gears in the dx forks, fits like a glove

mmmmmmmmm inspiration right here. this was my buddy danny's eg si. so clean... both looking and sounding. he had a magnaflow muffler on it, and that's what i'm going to install

SWEET!!! going to be picking up a SOHC zc short block tomorrow. has approx. 80k miles on it. going to clean it up and slap my z6 head on it asap tomorrow. so stoked.
ARGH **** nuggets. i drove all the way to chehalis, to find that the motor had what appeared to be crack in the block where a rod must have hit it. so i didnt get it. i'll probably just end up getting a zc from an importer. this eff's up all my plans tho. grrrrrrr
well i decided to take my a6 off the shelf and dust it off, and packed it all up in a tote bin. going to find a machine shop and have it rebuilt. also, i found the flush mount cups for my tweeters, and mounted them so i can have the tweeters angled at the passengers so the high's are more noticeable. oh and i traded my 91 input shaft out for the 88, being that when i bought the car it came with like a 0 mile clutch. why let good parts go to waste? plus i know that this way it's all one company, not the junk yard special i had thrown together. I checked the ring gaps on my b7 tonight, they're bad, but just barely. i still have all the parts for the bottom end, and my buddy steven has a y8 head and a dying d15b1, so i'm thinking i'm going to re ring it, slap his y8 head onto it, then call it a day for him.
Pics!
Engine all packed up

Input shaft swapped:

Tweeters:

so when i'm done, my drive train set up will be:
d16a6 bottom end with stock internals
d16z6 head possibly with a mild p/p job
y8 intake manifold with ls t/b
rebuilt si trans
f1 racing stage one clutch kit
if i can find one, a 12lb fly wheel
autozone axles
ex knuckles
ebay header
magnaflow high flow cat
obx-r 2.5" mandrel bent cat back with a magnaflow muffler and a custom muffler back with a twin tip split (much like a stock look)
rear disc swap for bling
15"s of some sort

went to the junk yard today
i picked up a front and rear lip from a 95 accord, a pair of fender liners, the pair of power window regulators and motors i needed for my power window conversion and some misc interior pieces i needed. the lips will need to be modified a bit to work, as they are too wide and a bit too long, but should look nice when i'm done.
Parts all laid out:

sweet just dropped off my a6 block and z6 head at eastco machine shop. going to have them look it all over, and have them tell me what they think needs to be done. can't wait to get my beast done! plus i filed my taxes today, and unless my motor is stupid expensive i should have enough for a cheap set of wheels and tires so i can do my big brake swap. so stoked!
I just finished up installing my drivers side power window set up. so glad i did this, it looks like my manual regulator was bowed some how. i wish i knew more about my car, all i know is it was broken into once when the previous owner had it. not sure before then, but all the mounting points for a manual window were bend and forced to be larger. for any one that is interested in knowing what i did i'll have a write up later tonight for it.
so today, along with installing my drivers side power window set up, i also relocated my washer hose after looking at kates car's washer nozzle hose routing. looks pretty clean to me.
post ***** status!! lol started working on my lip a lil bit last night, might pick up my buddy's crx hf. it's an 88 bone stock crx hf with some mild body damage, and an aftermarket sun roof. has ac but doesn't work, it changes it's own oil, needs seats but i have eg seats i can throw in it till i get some sedan seats, if i do pick it up.
also, i got a call from the machine shop today, said it honed out nicely. they're going to look at the pistons and crank and double check the head for warpage, and lmk what's up. going to go with arp rod bolts, since my buddy's d sent the rod through four different places in his block when he was doing like 120 in 3rd gear. then again he was close to 10g's on a relatively stock d16...

woo hoo! taxes came and went today. bought my transmission rebuild kit and paid for my motor. the motor cost 325 for a hot tank, hone, micro polish the crank, deck the head, prep the block for assembly, rings, and bearings. i am going to assemble it my self, and i will still have to buy head studs, a timing belt and water pump, and some other misc things, but it's almost ready to go back into the car.
man did i score today. picked up an almost complete d15b7 engine harness and thermostat housing that i'm going to use to convert my current harness to obd1, and when i was going to leave i happened to stumble up a riced out si and there was a pair of integra front seats just chillin in it!!!!! so i snagged those up super quick, ended up paying 35 bux for everything. so happy. now my seats will fit correctly with my center console.

mmmmmm today i finished the wire tuck, mounted my passenger side ballast and fender liner, and decided that i am going to wait on installing the a/c harness until i install the ac
edit: also forgot to mention that my transmission rebuild kit got here today. yay me!!
