My 88 std hatch
meh i don't want anything over 6000k HID's. i already have brand new 5000k bulbs with less than 100 hours on them in my garage that give my car the most PERFECT cutoff with stock headlights, my car came with HID's and the ballasts were like 8 years old and one finally died, so i gotta get a new set.
as far as my cars go, i blew up the one good thing i had for my van, the amp for my subs. no bass = a slow bulky gas guzzling hunk of ford toughness that isn't really my style. i keep it for mad beats, and for towing. so now i'm stuck with out beats till idk when. granted i can take the amp out of the civic, which is what i'm going to do, but what do i do when i get the hatch running?
as far as the civic goes, i pulled my kenwood out of it and put it back in the van (before my amp blew up) and took my center console out and put it in my garage.

some of his posts may have come off as rude or something.
here's one that could have gotten him banned...

sweet! so i'm working on cleaning my garage, and i came accross my hid and balasts. thought i'd try to figure out which one quit working, i hook them up, and what do ya know, both balasts work. i'm guessing i must have just had a bad connection or something. so that saves me for now. still going to buy a new set in the near future, as they still are kind of old.
i'll have more updates later tonight.

well no new updates. i was in the middle of cleaning the garage when i get a call from my g/f asking me to bring her a jacket and a hat because she just realized that she had left her warm stuff at home. so i get to her work, then get a call from my dad saying that his car broke down up in vancouver. not sure what is wrong with it, i think the torque converter died or something. he said that he was driving up 205 and all of the sudden it started making a terrible grinding noise, and started free reving when he'd step on the gas. so now when we try to start it it slowly cranks then continues to free spin.
SWEET!!!!!! went to my not so local lkq u pull it in damascus and bought a d15b7 short block in fairly good condition for 2 bux. yup, that's right, two dollars. they were having a 2 dollar in 2 dollars per part deal. i had to park a half of a mile away and walk back in to get it, but they let me drive my rig to the front doors to pick it up. any ways it was like 2 dollars plus a 26 dollar core charge. not bad! also i got the missing single wire vtec plug i needed.
any ways the b7 i have is out of a 95 civic coupe, looked to be adult owned, no mods on it. spins freely, cylinders 1-3 had almost no carbon build up on them, cylinder four had a bit more build up, however i'm going to take all four pistons out and check the ring specs. hopefully they'll be good. if not oh well. plus i got a clutch and fly wheel set up out of it. lol

well i forgot to say it sooner, so i'll say it now. i picked up the last of the supplies i needed to PROPERLY wire tuck my car. as in, solder, heat shrink, spools of wire, all that stuff. going to start perhaps tomorrow
good news. as far as the rotating assembly is concerned on the b7, it looks to be in MINT condition. aside from being smelly and varnished, the bearings are all still silver on the rotating side. going to check ring gaps when i wake up then go from there. if they are out of spec, new ones will be ordered, and i will find a machine shop to hone it out. may do that any ways, just to be safe. going to have my cyl. head tripple checked over too
No ish? Lol I had to keep it going some how. Like I said. HT can't kill me hehe.
Hey my dad and I are gonna clean the shed of EVERYTHING this week. Anything Honda related would you like me to set it aside for you to go through?? As I don't need it.

pix of motor tear down thus far will be up here in a min. working on cleaning up messy wiring with solder and as few of joints as possible, and to generally clean up the area under my dash
ok here we go.

Internals:

Main cap removed:

#1's bearings:

note - i did not take pix of the bearings from 2,3 and 4 as they looked exactly the same. looked pretty much new
pistons in order from left to right, cyl 1,2,3,4 (yes i know they're reversed, the engine was on backwards on the engine stand so i left them in order of how i removed them)
crank with rods removed:

Oil pan/storage

yes, i used annother oil pan as a drain pan. works great! lol
all pix were taken on my Canon Power Shot A560
When the pictures were taken i had not cleaned the engine at all with the exception of removing a chunk of dirt that fell into cyl. three when i removed the head. the engine was free rotating and did not bind or grind or crunch in anyways. no knocks, nothing. sorry about the pic of the crank being too close

well it's been a lazy day kind of, did more house cleaning than honda work, but so far what i have accomplished are removed the seats, removed the dash, took off the bumper and drivers side fender, cut off all of the oem plugs from the ghetto ****, then stuffed all the wires from the drivers side into cabin. had to call it quits because it is my sisters winter band concert at school and i want to be there for her.
here's pix:
engine torn down, waiting for me to check the rings and go from there:

Trans also waiting for me to finish taking it apart so i can replace w/e is wrong in it

Seats are out

Wiring mess i'm going to be taking care of:
Passenger side:

Center Tunnel:

Drivers Side:

Engine Bay:

This is why we should always use fender liners:

I just thought these looked cool:

not sure what kind of bulbs they are, but they look blue but glow amber.

nice progress on the tear down but sure looks like a wiring nightmare ahead of you...i called homos earlier today and the shipment is delayed so im on hold another week...!!!
dang man sorry to hear about the motor. the wiring isn't as bad as it looks. just time consuming. only thing i need to trouble shoot is why the front squirters received no voltage when the switch was pulled. other than that it's pretty much cut out the old garbage, solder on new wires and run them all loomed up so it is CLEAN and out of the way, not messy or rushed.
hahaha yeah well between having to work so much and not having much time for the civic i like to document everything i've done in case i forget
so i was talking with my buddy nick, who has had multiple motors built for multiple projects (2 d15 vtecs for his old EG hatch, r.i.p., his firebird, and i'm sure other projects) and he recommended that i take my engine to Portland Engine Re builders. I'm going to have to give them a call or a visit later this week, see what their prices are and what not. i'm not playing around with rebuilding my engine, even if i only run it for a few months, i want it done right, as it may very well end up in w/e civic my girl gets, and i cannot allow any ghetto stuff or half assed stuff on her cars.
also, i was checking out http://shop.synchrotech-transmissions.com and it would appear that they sell an entire bearing and gasket rebuild kit for my trans for under 200 bux. they use all oem Honda gaskets as well. found them via some one else advertising them on the zcr.com
