anyway some people seem to think that the expansion valve is the weak link, this guy in the following link converted his expansion valve to orifice tube and reports MUCH BETTER...

sumdewd, here are some things to consider:

did you have all the hard ac lines cleaned out well? if they're dirty it may cause...

i have a 91 civic and I redid my entire ac system recently with new oem replacement parts and a rebuilt compressor. I'm using 134a. now that the temp outside is 100 it doesnt blow cool enough...

I just edited my post...it did sound like I had a Y8 head ..but it's not. It's the D15B2 original head with the Y8 head gasket only. the 96-00 head gasket is supposed to be the same as the 92-95 one...

I changed the head gasket because the the original had 120k miles and was leaking oil/low compression. I went with the D16Y8 head gasket and dropped...

that is correct and crystal clear when you have an obvious different head on a different short block but in the case of the d16a6 and d15b2 the heads are equal minus the camshaft and valve spring...
