d15b2 with a d16a6 head, timing issues?
Does anyone know if i can use the factory cam gear and still time my motor corectly, tried to search this but didnt come up with the answer i needed. Thanks In Advance

This is exactly what I'm running and basically the only way to get it timed correctly is with a cam gear. With the stock cam gear the timing is always off by like half a tooth or so.

Yes you can, which I did, but it still can't be timed up to factory spec, its always retarded with the dizzy all the way advanced. You might be able to get away with cutting notches on the distributor legs though.

The d16y7 cam gear i tried is working. i can set my timing to stock finally.
from what i have gathered any d16y* cam gear will work. hope this helps someone.

Hate to bump a thread so old, but I figure it's better than starting a new one.
I'm about to do a mpfi swap on my dx, but I'm also throwing on a d16a6 head at the same time. I got everything I need for the swap, including the si distributor, but which cam gear should I use? I think that's a different question than was asked here because I assume this guy was staying with dpfi.
