Newb question. Please help.
I need to install the temp sensor for my water temp gauge and I have a galvanized iron nut that I need to weld onto an aluminum plate. I am going to drill out a hole in the aluminum plate and weld on the nut so I can screw the temp sensor in. Can I weld the iron nut to the aluminum plate or is there another way to attach it? Can I stick weld it on? Im taking a welding class and so far we are only doing stick welding. Which electrode would work the best (if any)? 6010, 6013, 7024, 7018, 6011? Thanks.

you cant weld iron or steel to aluminum, your best bet would be to find an aluminum bung that is the correct size for your sensor and weld that on...or i suppose you could try jb welding it on if you dont want to go that route, but i consider jb welding stuff kinda "half-assing" things, unless theres no other option, which most times there is
