AWD EJ2 Build
It never hurts to be prepared! I would like to think that I am prepared for almost anything, but you never know what might happen! When hurricane katrina hit, everyone came to my house!
Those spoiler struts look good! Got to get a little bling in there somewhere. MMM...Chrome!

lol that sounds good- were the only ones on the street with a generator (nothing special). But i wired it so i can disconnect the mains and plug it into the garage.. In a power cut our house is untouched lol.. Never actually used it lol
You really think the struts look good?? I thought people would hate them...

Okay good news..
My redesign seems a success... Not 100% finished just yet. but looking very good..
Alot neater and more subtle than the last set, let me know what you think..

Very nice work there Chris. Just goes to show you that you can't judge a book by it's cover. lol Talking about the way someone looks, one of the smartest civil engineers I know at school looks like he's stoned all the time. He might be, but he's very knowledgeable and great at figuring problems out.

I cant wait now to get it running its software..
Its not obvious in the videos but i accidentally over stretched an actuator and snapped a pin again. Simple job to replace but itll wait until i take the actuator out- the friction is still allowing it to move..

Small update
Im off work ill at the moment (man-flu) so i havnt been able to do anything on the car.
But after chatting with my dad at the weekend, i have decided to correct a mistake. Its been bothering me how **** poor the dash came out, so ive redesigned it..

Its being laser cut from 3mm stainless steel this week. The warning symbols and fuel level are cut out of the stainless leaving a 0.5mm groove. An LED will be mounted on the other side and illuminate it when necessary. Im using an autogage 2300 as the tach and a VGA (not video) 7" LCD. The second VGA channel will drive the cars 7" stereo display. So will still have the dual screen idea going on...

Small update for tonight
Added some more detail to the cad drawing, to give it more of a feel...

As you can see, the screen is too big for the hole- a sacrifice which i think will make it look really nice (not having a big rectangle screen). I couldnt be bothered rendering the tachometer but its an Autogage 2300. The fuel gauge is driven from the dash computer, its a bar of 9 green LEDs. The indicator symbols appear to be the type which just shows that the "indicators are on", but im having an LED behind each arrow, so it will show which direction im indicating in.. Hopefully the LEDs themselves will be light tight, so the symbols will be almost indistinguishable. Another thing is, im hoping to leave it brushed stainless- unpainted..

I didn't quite do mine in that fashion, I wouldn't know how to get the leds to change colors at different fuel levels, however, that would be BADASS now that I mention it...
Here are my fuel and temp gauges...

that looks awesome mate- thanks for the pics.
I just finished designing a controller which will run them all green showing remaining fuel. When the fuel gets low, the last led will go yellow. Finally when computer warns that the range is down to 50 miles, the lights will go red and represent how much of the 50 miles is left...
It should look pretty nice.. The controller will also dim the leds when the headlights are lit.
