Default Vtec oil pressure switch defective or unpluged code...

My cel popped on the other day and i checked the code and it was code 22 vtec oil pressure switch defective or unplugged/ defective oil pressure switch. Im pretty sure vtec hadnt been engaging before the light came on. Is this a fixable problem or do i have to replace the whole solinoid?

The VTEC oil pressure switch isn't the same thing as the VTEC solenoid. You should be able to get just the switch.

But first, make sure that's the problem. It could be unplugged. Or check for a broken wire or something like that. Then make sure your oil's OK, because if your overall oil pressure or inventory is low, it should throw the same code.

The first thing I check is the oil level.

check for continuity at the oil pressure switch. second check for continuty from the blk/yel wire on the harness to d6 on the ecu. also check the oil like your buddy said. also check the vtec screen for obstructions and plunger between the selanoid and the vtec assembly.

I checked continuity and had 1.6 or 1.7 ohms at the switch. The screens were clear and plunger worked fine. I was wondering if it could be not making enough oil pressure possibly, or would that throw a different code?

That's probably the problem.

I put a new switch in and fixed a few of the wires, but still no go on fixing it. It still throws a code 22. The oil level is fine. Do you think low overall oil pressure would throw this code or would it b a different code?

check your wires from the vtec solenoid to the ECU...there may be a short in between.
