I'll blow my tranny in a few more months anyway.</TD></TR></TABLE>
And you're really going to believe what some parts guy told you over what people here with real experiences say? I mean you can go at least 25K miles between trans fluid changes, why not go ahead and get 3 quarts of the good stuff. Honda MTF is only $4-$5 qt. GM Synchromesh is at least $10, expensive yes, but you'll only have to change it like what, once a year if that?
Now I guess if you do actually want to kill the tranny quicker to have an excuse to replace it with something else, use the synthetic motor oil.

Well I took your advice and swapped out the synthetic for dino oil. I decided not to listen to the parts guy after he insisted that my trans fluid capacity was 4qts
. Man, those guys are dumb.

Well my car is a full race car, so I only drive it about 8k miles per year. But I guess it comes down to me not really caring. Even if the Honda MTF was free, I wouldn't drive to the dealership to buy it when I can just drive down the street to Autozone and buy whatever. Seriously, I don't think it really matters what trans fluid you use. But then again, a new tranny for my y8 is only $100, so maybe you guys with type-R's and whatnot are more ****.

Well yeah my car being my only mode of transportation, I can't be having the synchros go out on me.
But I would still probably run some good stuff in a race car, at least if there was alot of money in it.

in your transmission? ughh that's too thin... .at least use the correct viscosity even if you don't use transmission fluid.

with my first transmission, I used MTF, 10w30, and syn 10w30. After going to the strip, I noticed "notchyness" after using both the 10w30 and MTF. I would change the MTF after every drag session. Ultimately my shifting errors caused the demise of my 3rd and 5th synchros.
This spring I installed a new transmission from Acura. I broke it in for about 500 miles with MTF, then changed the MTF, drove it around for another couple of hundred miles, then I put in Pennzoil Synchromesh and noticed an improvement in shift feel. The impact seemed to improve over several weeks, as if it had to impregnate all the components.
I'll analyze the fluid when I change it next. So far I have about 2K on the Pennzoil Synchromesh and am satisfied with it.

Damn, my new tranny is already grinding and it's only been two weeks
.
Maybe I'll give in and try the syncromesh. Or maybe my tranny just doesn't like to shift over 8,000.

I actually sent an email to royal purple and they told me they do not recommend using there syncromax. They said I would be better off just using there 10w30 motor oil
Honda recommends engine oil in my 88 CRX tranny
I used Mobil 1 for 100K+ miles
Switched to Amsoil MTF about a year ago, IT IS WAY BETTER
