TRANS QUESTION
I have a 98 GSR,and for some reason every 15 shifts or so,it doesn't want to go into 1st gear.It doesn't grind it just does not want to go in,if I go into 2nd 1st or let off the clutch and go back on it goes right in.And it only happens here and there.I took it to 2 dealers and they gave me the typical BS they're all like that, they recomended going into Reverse then into 1st when it does do that,i also notice my friends does the same thing.Has anyone seen this before?Any comments are welcome.
I kinda thought that because my friends did it too,but at the same time it seems weird, however the car shifts like a dream besides that. And your right if the car roles a little it goes right in as well.
typical tranny.
With clutch on floor for 1-2 seconds, the shafts stop spinning. No spinning means if the synchro and synchro hub not aligned, it is not going into gear.

double clutch when you need to drop into first. I often downshift to first on the streets while rolling, and just by double-clutching and revmatching, can slide the shifter into 1st as slick as any other gear.
usually when it roles it goes right in.It seems when I'm at a complete stop, and it even seems when the car is sitting on a road thats uneven. And this happens once every 10 15 shifts. So its hard to notice.
You can also keep your foot on the clutch and press the gas just a tad as your putting it into first. This is a really common issue, and isn't considered a problem.

I have similar trouble getting into reverse from being parked, I usually let the car roll fwd, to let it slide in. the hole holding the clutch too long stooping the synco's does that happen when you just start the car up or is that just a down shifting problem.
How is this gonna help? With clutch pedal down, tranny shafts are not moving. Revving the engine does nothing.
Try it...
