What is wrong with my reverse/second gear? RATHER URGENT
Hey guys,
I posted this question in the EG+ forum, but no one could help me.
So here's how it goes. As of recently, when I shift my car into reverse, and drift backwards with the clutch pressed in, the car feels as if something is dragging. Sometimes, if I'm drifting back slow enough, the car with stop completely.
The strange thing is, when you let the clutch out the whole way, reverse works fine.
So, my theory is, if the transmission were screwed, wouldn't it be jerking and stopping regardless of the position of the clutch?
Also, sometimes when I try downshift into second gear, it physically doesn't let me in unless I match revs. To me this sounds like a synchro, but if that were so, wouldn't it do it all the time? I mean, this second gear and reverse thing seems to be intermittent. It comes and goes.
Someone in my previous thread mentioned adjusting the clutch, but my car has a hydraulic clutch. This may sound like an extremely newb-ish question, but how am I supposed to do that?
Others told me this problem could be caused by worn shift linkage. So, sure enough, I pulled it out and it was worn, but that didn't solve the problem. I am now running brand new shift linkage, which feels better rowing through the gears, but hasn't helped my reverse or second gear dillema...
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you.

make sure your shift linkage isn't binding on anything also when my clutch was going out i would have issues with getting into gear but eventully all gears were hard to get into hope it helps some
