Default quick question??????

if ur shiftlinkage is not bolted up tight can it cuase the trans not to go into some gears? jump in my car and never like go into reverse so i tryed to force it and linkage fell , so i but it back but have no bolt to tighten it so will have to wait to tommorrow to get a bolt.

I dont know if the shift linkage being loose has anything to do with it but most Honda's have trouble sometimes going into reverse. (sometiemes 1st also). I think its because these gears don't have synchros. next time it gives you trouble going into reverse, either try putting into 1st gear first, then reverse, OR try putting it back in neutral, letting go of the clutch, then push it back in and try again (keep doing this until it goes in, just dont force it in). Also you can pull it as far as you can into reverse, then slightly let go of the clutch until it slips into gear. I dont know if that last suggestion is a good idea or not, but it works for me.

no man i know that i always to that before i put in in reverse. put yeah it was cause it wanst bolted up but yup fixed it.

yes it can cause that..The shifter linkage has a lower bar that creates TENSION which allows you to engage the gears properly...if loose or if it falls off..the shifter will fall LIMP and will not engage properly
