Don't know if anyone else ran into this, but my 2nd quaife looked to not let a press fit of the speedo ring gear, but a simple trick worked:

put diff in the freezer & put ring gear on cookie sheet @ 425 degrees in oven for 10 min.

this thing literally dropped right on with NO pressure even required
