Quaife Install question
When putting the ring gear onto the quaife does it go on the quaife the same way as it did on the open diff or are the bolts facing opposite? Also does the speedo gear go on the same way too?
These pics show how its different. But those pics are for a kaaz here they are.

It goes back together exactly as it comes apart (I've done a Quaife swap). I think the confusion that you are having is that in the second photo, (05.jpg) he is just holding the ring gear to show you something. It's not that he is in the process of installing it.

Yea, that second pic is just stupid if they're trying to show "how to" install it... Just as Wes V said, the ring gear bolts on the same direction as from the factory and the speedo gear goes on the same (have fun playing with the torch, hehe)...
If the ring gear bolts on the same way howcome in this pic the bolts are showing upwards and when I opened my tranny they were underneat???

Wow, that's really strange maybe Kazz is different (I've only installed a Kazz diff on a Supra) but I don't really know... I've never seen that before and we do a lot of Quaife installs so maybe it's just something they do... The way it should be with a Quaife is the exact way Honda at the factory does it on the OE diff... Ring gear bolts facing VSS gear or towards the driver side of the car (if you tranny was bolted up)... Here's a Quaife in Will's S1 from awhile back...
THANKS! Also when I took off the casing I made some very small indents cuz i used a crow bar for a bit. Should I smooth out the dents with sand paper or just leave it?

why did you use a "crow" bar
all you have to do is just wiggle the case until it comes loose(and yes it does take a while sometimes)
Quaife is essentially the same as a stock honda LSD, the ring gear goes on the same exact way it was on your stock differential

yes if you damaged any of the sealing surfaces you should make them as smooth as they were before and be shure that you did not damage anything inside of the case when prying.
