I plan on rebuilding my H22A that now resides in my Accord Wagon (automatic)., all's well but for two persistant problems.......... at 5k RPM where I have it to go to vtec there is a hesitation of about 300 RPM before, then it comes in with a bang until it's shifting from 3rd to 4th. The check light comes on (code 22) vtec is then locked out.

I changed the selenoid, no joy, then I change the pressure senser (green) at last vtec fine but, the holding back before vtec is still with me. Cleaned the screen filter to no avail. Changed the oil etc., to no avail.

It feels as though the spark plugs and or the leads are breaking down like in the old days, but once in vtec, man it realy hauls out off there.

check ur oil level
then reset ur ecu.

 

Not only have I checked the oil level but, I have changed the OIL......... RED LINE.
Never the less the head comes off this weekend for porting and valve angle change etc., so we'll see what up.
