Definently go with the vtec head. You will not be disappointed.

Couple of questions if you have time

1 How reliable will the b16 vtec motor be over the f20b?

2 Can I hook the vtec solenoid to the computer I have now or do I have to get another pcm?

3 Can I stay with my stock oil pump and water pump? Because they are both less that 6 months old.

4 Can I use my b20 distibutor if I cut one side off to fit?

I already have a b16 head with intake no distributor or vtec solenoid. I have read that the vtec head makes it less reliable and the timing cover does not fit. I do not want to race it just want it to go up a hill without have to down shift and turn 4500 rpm just to go 60 mph.

Thanks for your help.

Well i don't think vtec is going to help with that too much, since it is all top end power. It sounds like you are wanting more torque, which is difficult to find in the honda world. The vtec head will definitely make a noticeable improvement up top, but you will still have to downshift for steep climbs, and your rpms at 60mph aren't going to change unless you lower your final drive, which would pretty much negate any performance benefits of the vtec conversion. You could always turbocharge your b20, it costs about the same as a properly done b20vtec conversion.

Is there any other motor that would fit a 98 crv without a lot of modification?
Like the f20b maybe.
