Default B18b vtec head with vtec not hooked up?

I was wondering if there would be any problems putting a B16 or GSR head on a B18B1 and not connecting the vtec stuff up? I know the B16 and GSR heads flow ALOT better than the B18b1 head and i dont wanna mess around with vtec. Would this be a worthy investment to help the engine flow better?

Only if you were to go with Toda Vtec Killer or a custom ground cam b/c the primary cam lobes before vtec are small would not benefit you into higher rpms!

This has been thought of but you could go B20 block and P8R head. Same port and valves sizes as a B16 head!

The only reason I see to use a Vtec head for nonvtec purposes is the design of the rocker assembly!

the head will flow better but you WILL be slower... hook up the vtec

True and False!

True: With the stock cams or any vtec cam in there you will be slower without Vtec b/c you will never make to the large cam lobe, so you would just be running on the smaller lobes.

False: Now with custom camshafts made to work in the Vtec head, but already have the big lobe to start with and no vtec lobe; then you would be fine. However I only recommend doing such a thing if you plan on building the motor.

*I stated this in my earlier post

oh ok makes sense then. Im guessing B18b cams or aftermarket B18b cams wouldnt work in a GSR head?

No they wont. They will have to be a custom grind made for a vtec head!
