simple, change oil brands. i went from 1 quart of mobil one every 300 miles, to adding no oil between oil changes with Agip synthetic.
40050 miles, mobil 1, not one ounce burned. Oil is just about all the same. One person will swear that brand X will burn like crazy and brand Z wont and vice versa.
Oil is about as controversial as politics. Just use what works for you. Don't worry about what some other goof has to say.

At first my car burned conventional valvoline oil like crazy, over a quart every oil change, but since putting castrol syntec 10w30 in it, my oil burning problems have stopped. Kinda weird, I thought switching to synthetic would make me burn more oil.

Mine burns Mobil 1 like mad. Some people say that having certain headers increases oil comsumption because of the extra heat they produce. I may try switching brands and see what happens.

most haven't heard of it. it's not very popular. everyone buys common brands like castrol and mobil. i have run it in my racecar for 4 years with ZERO problems. 1greyteg was sceptical, but once he tried it... fell in love. there are not a lot of distributors that sell it, i have to dig up my contact info. i did a google search, and came up empty handed. all well, just more for me....

what is the correlation between comparing usage of oil between a street car which doesnt get rebuilt every x races like a race car?
i'm betting little to none.

Mobil 1 = waste of money. I don't know how many cases I went through when I had the ring problem.
