What kind of Mobil 1 do I need and how much?
Getting oil change today at dealer w/ no Mobil 1 so I need to buy some. What kind do I need and how much? I am in Arizona. thanks
save yourself some money and do your own oil changes. its beginners stuff and you should be able to handle it. If you want to run Mobil 1, try 5w 30 or 10w 30..maybe even 10w 40. Some people will tell you differently, but thats what I use and it works fine for me. you should be fine with any of those.

factory recommends 5w30....you'll need to buy 5 quarts, as the ITR takes 4.2, unless you have an aftermarket oil cooler or something.
In AZ I would go with 10w30, although you could use 5w30 as well.
I would buy 5qts, even though I never needed more than 4 to fill things up.

also, do not add too much oil if you do it yourself. your car will feel "bogged down" until it burns some of it off. I now put in no more than 4qts, and check it regularly.

over 2300 posts and wondering about what oil for your baby, sorry it's a bit funny. I run 5w-30 about 5qts. and without knowing so,I feel that you will start the great oil debate again. Just don't ask if you should run synthetic and please not what kind!
I used mobil 1 5w30 for a long time but i'm changing over to 10w30. 5w30 seems to burn up so damn quick, especially in VTEC so hopefully the 10w30 will last me a little longer and still run strong.
I would do my own oil change, but when you are making $50+ / hour your time is better spent at work

If it's very hot there and you're tracking the car, use Castrol RS 10W-60 for better protection at high temperatures.......
I found a Checker with som Mobil 1 10w30 for $4.50 a quart. Does that sound right?
BTW, I really appreciate the hlep guys, it has been a horrible day, and it's just beginning

Edit: 4.50/qt isn't bad, I got it at my local parts stoe for like 4.37, I think..

$50 an hour.. you cant change your own oil.
buy some brains while your buying your oil.
and dont give us the excuse "i have no time to change my oil, i'm always at work"..
it takes like 10 minutes to change your oil, quicker than driving down to your dealer.

My understanding is that Mobil 1 changed their formula a while back & its not the same as it use to be. I use to run Mobil 1 before but I would burn a lot of oil & I had to refill it often. I would suggest for you to try maybe Castrol GTX syn. or maybe Amsoil. I currently run Amsoil filter & oil, I'm very pleased. If you don't know anyone that sells Amsoil, e-mail me, I can help you out.

now this thread is going way OT ... but ... changing oil is not a big deal but it takes much more than 10 minutes. You would have to jack the car up, crawl underneath with to let out the old oil, replace the filter (major PITA in most Hondas), fill it up with new oil, make sure there are no spills, then let the car down. After all that, you have to get rid of the oil too.
That will take most people more than 10 mins. It took me about an hour to do all these steps the few times that I changed the oil myself. Paying $20 at the dealer is quicker and more convenient IMO. For my other car, I change the oil myself because I change it often and with the practice, I have it down to 30 minutes. Maybe after doing it 100 times, I'll have it down to 10 mins.
Some people are busy or they have better things to do with their time, and for these people, the $20 is worth being spared the hassle of doing your own oil change.

So I put the 3 quarts of mobil 1 I had left and switched to Castrol GTX syn. This weekend. Its a couple of cents cheaper than mobil 1
