Default this one is for the engine builders & boost gurus

Which piston have you had the best luck with

JE, Arias, CP ?

just curious
bought a set of 9:1 JE .020 overbore and i'm second thinking my purchase
are these good enough in a sleeved block?
or should i look at another brand
plan on boosting up to 15 psi tuned with Hondata

any suggestions Art, Viren, John, Tony

ummm hmmm well what bore is your sleeves at???

i've had good experience on JE

dont know about Arias but all the old skool people use to run them

I've heard nothing but great reviews on CP

alot of people are running higher compression pistons like 10.0:1 for daily driving purposes i guess but with good tuning, you should have no problem running 10.0:1

9.0:1 is lil low compression but works fine...that's what i'm running on my B16a

you shouldnt have to worry about those 3 brands.. they are top notch.
Good enough for many race cars.. good enough for your street car.

Out of those 3 brands I personally have bad experience with Arias pistons. My buddy Art bought a set stock bore for his h23 prelude with a GE sleeved block. He broke the motor in as per spec from Ge and his machinist. Gets the car on the dyno and is at 7psi with hondata getting tuned and the ring land cracks and the top of the piston pops off and gets jammed in a valve.

EDIT: I forgot to say on the dyno A/f was at 12:0 all the way through boost. Had a perfectly flat torque curve the piston just malfunctioned and the top separated from the ring lands

So he buys a new piston from arias same thing happens on cylinder #2 this time. He is giving up after spending over 5,000 dollars on his turbo and motor build to put a stock jdm h22 in his car so he doesn't have to worry about those pistons any more.

He said he is done with Fi and the problems he has had with his pistons. I have Je 9.0:1 in my d16z6 crx and they are great

Je

I'd be willing to bet there was another problem with that car. I've used JE and arias tons of times and they're both good pistons. We run arias in our race car and they handle the power we make, so i'm sure they're good enough for any street honda! I really don't have any reason to recommend any one of those brands over another. I'd stay away from srp for high hp, but all the ones you mentioned will work fine. Pistons don't break themselves, bad tuneups break pistons!

I've experienced JE and Wiseco's...They are both very good, but I like the JE's just because when you have both in your hand, the JE feels like a stouter piston(it's just in my head though)

Oh, and Tony, I hope you don't bite

If the A/F was straight at 12.0:1 then you mustve had some timing issues or a dead injector but that would lead me to belive it would be lean. The Arias are good pistons so there definately had to be some problemwith that build or tune.

Oh I have experiences with Endyn/Wiseco 3 sets 81.5mm, 84.5mm and 85mm. The current motor has 84mm JE because the block was already bored to them at the shop so I took them too. I like the quality of them. I was very Impressed with ROSS pistons too I saw some CP also nice

I like that. Kinda like the NRA quasi-slogan
Pistons don't kill motors. You kill motors
