maxrev manifold/downpipe/t3t4 turbo - drag3 piping

is there a way i can ubolt the turbo apart and twist it so the outlet is pointing down? because shaving the block to this extreme seems a little retarded.... i've already shaved the 2 webs down a bunch

so how do i get this to work?

the downpipe bolt... it no worky... what the hell, i'm assuming i use stud- how do i go about it?

Yeah you can rotate the compressor housing whereever is neccessary on the turbo. You need to loosen the 6 bolts on the compressor housing, then rotate the housing to position that you desire. If i remember correctly, your housing will be limited to the amount that you can rotate it in 60 degree increments or something close to that. Anyway, rotate the housing till you have it were you want it, tighten the bolts back up and your done. Dont worry about damaging the turbo, the compressor and exhaust housing are meant to be able to unbolt.

As far as the downpipe is concerned you need to run a stud in one of the exhaust holes on the turbo housing. I did this with a friends set-up, and worked quite well.

yes.

Unbolt the center section until get the the desired location, the reason you ahve to do this is Garret does not know what kind of cars are going to be on, so you are able to "clock" the turbo. make sure your oil return is good, it uses gavatiy to work.

 

Why was the turbo sent to you angled at the block like that?

 

You should be able to use an intake manifold stud for the DP. It's the same thread. Then just use an intake manifold nut

 

Turbos do not come clocked to any particular position. Clocking the turbo is part of the install.

The turbos usually come from a manufacturer who does not know what kit or which car they will be installed on. Sometimes with a kit you have to make an extra cut here or change something there. That seperates the men from the boys in this game

 

 

It's no big deal really. But it comes as a suprise. Well we learn something new everyday.

 

yeah, i figured it was simple enough, just never had to do it before, so i was a bit confused.

just finished 'clocking' it. fits like a charm.
and all those hours of grinding down the block were put to a waste, looks like i didn't even need to. oh well.
