Default finally hold 15 psi and we cracked a sleeve :(

So we find out the turbo Si has a cracked sleeve. I finally got the damn turbo to hold 15 psi pretty steady, removed the FMU and had it running pretty well. My friend stops by the shop just to bs the other day and one of the guys there notices oil in the coolant reservoir Wasnt there a few days ago so it mustve gone out earlier this week. The engine already has wiseco endyn pistons, eagle rods and a block guard. I told him that nows the time to sleeve the block but i have no idea how long it takes to have the work done. I thought about looking for a stock si bottom end and just throwing it in for now. The reason for this is because we need the car on the road ASAP and i heard golden eagle takes over 4 weeks to return a block.

Do any of you guys know someone selling a b16 bottom end?

Is it possible a head gasket is just leaking? I never cracked a sleeve but I would think it takes more boost than that.

what were you using for fuel management since you removed the FMU?

gotcha.. I was under the impression from your post it was still together. Sorry I can't help with the block. Hey if you have the cash. I think jdmhondaparts.com will sell you a b16 for around $600

I appreciate all the replies

We are leaning towards another b16 block and just get it bored out for the endyn pistons. This seems to be the fastest solution right now as well as the cheapest.

Im not happy because i get to work on my car AND this car again.

Well the motor has been beat on for a while so i'm not suprised it went. I told him that even though the bottom end is built, the motor is NOT bulletproof. To be honest, im suprised it didnt blow earlier. Sometimes i really regret infecting my friend with this disease of modding cars.

Also, any stock motor can hold 15psi
b16 is a lot safer because of its rod & stroke
but without backing off enough timing
**** like that happen

ditto on that... however with proper tuning detonation can be eliminated. if you don't sleeve the block and decide just to get another b16a block do yourself a favor and get Hondata and get the car tuned properly so you have no detonation. oh, and *DON'T* run shitty gas with 15PSI on a stock bottom end.

a guy locally ran 20+ psi on his stock b-series bottom end forever because he tuned it well. he only blew it up after his waste gate spring broke and stayed closed so he boosted way high for a split second without realizing it. it went "poof".

hey my buddy has a si block from a 99 si....just sitting at the shop he works at...its bare except for the crank and i think knock sensor..he'll prolly let it go for pretty cheap, his email is Lev16gt@aol.com .....just put "SI bottom end" or "b16 bottom end" in the title of the email and tell him Andy told you about the block...good luck

Damnit Trevor, The hose on the boost port of the wastegate blew off ( No zip tie ) it was so reliable that I never checked anything but oil and coolant.

Whenever you add boost you should always take out timing. Rule of thumb is usually, 1 degree per pound of boost.
Boost does not hurt engines, bad tuning does. If you take out enough timing and add alot of manifold pressure you will see a nice increase in torque. The trick is to move the PEAK cylinder pressure way past TDC
