Default Built bottom end w/ block guard BOOST?

What amount of boost would be a good point to start with a forged bottom-end and a block guard on stock sleeves and 9.7:1 compression?

I know it sounds newb-ish but I'm a newb to the forced induction stuff. :-/

Thanks a ton,

Harry

so you wouldn't go up to 10 even with forged internals?

Maybe I'll just save my money and sleeve the block so I can boost her sky high. lol.

Would 8 psi at 9.7:1 produce much more power than no psi at 11.3:1 ?

Thanks again for answering some seriously newb questions...

With forged rods and pistons, I would say you could safly hit 15psi with proper tuning. I've seen 400hp cars (I think theres someone here) on stock sleeves, no block guard with rods and pistons. You shouldn't have any problems with 8 psi.

I'd say about eleven or twelve psi would be the most I'd run, just to get some longevity from the motor. I say buy sleeves while the motor is open, or you will regret it later.

Why would the motor be open? All I'm doing is changing a head gasket I don't wanna get new piston rings they have less than 5000 km on them ;-)

k do this, block guard with pistons/rods with a standalone and proper tuning and i dont see why you couldnt boost 10psi daily and 12-15 track,i wouldnt even bother with a thicker headgasket,i would get some lower compresion pistons such as 8:5:1 or 9:1:1
