I have a sohc vtec motor, but the vtec does not engage. I have correct wiring. But I do have an oil leak. Could loss of oil pressure disable VTEC from working? Or can it be the solenoid? Im running an ecu chiiped for a b16 dont know if thats the problem. any advice? thanks.

use the correct ecu.... then check for codes... go from there



or u can just fill up the vtec fluid and install a vtec solenoid cover. lol


oh and how do u know vtec doesnt engage? it is an SOHC.... not very easy to tell

 

Well VTEC use to crack and it was pretty loud for a sohc lol...I was using a gsr ecu and it cracked at 4500...But then all of sudden it just quit on me...

gsr and b16 use knock seneors and d16 do not so use a p28 ecu

 

i used to own a d16z6 and you can actually hear the change over when vtec engage..so dont under estimate the single cam...
