how to ID sohc vtec computer?
i want to know how to ID sohc vtec ECU?
I think my del sol might be vtec, but the vtec dose not work.
the valve cover does not say it is vtec, but it is a d16z6.
and i found what i think is a vtec silnode

you have vtec. your ecu should have a tag with a bar code on it, somewhere on there it should say p28. thats the ecu you shoould have. why do think your vtec is not working?

If it's a D16Z6, it has VTEC.
How have you determined that the VTEC isn't working?

I have driven a few sohc vtec engines and I have never been able to tell when vtec hits. Most people who have driven both say the difference is night and day. Get the pinouts for your ecu, hook up a 12v light to the wire controlling vtec and see if it lights up when you hit 5500 or thereabouts, should tell you if the ecu is sending a signal.

I think all dx harnesses look like that. My friend got some plugs for me from the junkyard and when I got them I was like, WTF, and he said they were all like that.

before you spend money I'd pull the cover off the ECU, there are a lot of P06 ECUs out there that have VTEC capability added to them later.
There are a lot of scenerios that could explain this...
previous owner did a head swap due to floating valves, VTEC CELs, swap in P06 to be done with it.
Previous owner had a bad ECU for what ever reason, drops in an Ebay special that's upgraded like I mentioned and goes on with his life.
also they could have swapped in a lesser ECU before the sale and sold their P28 for extra money...
check to see if you have a VTEC solinoid on the head before assuming you have the ability.
