Default LS/VTEC Turbo?good?bad?

is this a good idea? it is an LS bottom end with a 99b16a head. i plan on building the motor up eventually but figured i can run about 10-12psi on this car as is. is it a smart idea to go turbo on this setup?

I'm sure if you built it right, ls/vtec will be a killer setup man. I am working on one myself should be done in a few months

84.5mm Endyn pistons
Endyn/Eagle rods
Endyn oil pump
Moroso oil pan
Z10 girdle kit
B16 head ported by portflow
full ferrera valvetrain and valves
skunk2 intake manifold w/ported b16 throttle body
undecided tranny and turbo so far

... dont do the girdle. Search.

i know many very very fast cars b20/LS motored that run no girdle. I also know ppl with girdles who had the girdle shift and lose a crank.

Hey Geoff,
Did the people you know who had the girdle shift have the mains doweled and all that you said that would need to be done to the Z-10 to make it function properly? Or did they just put the girdle on?

Thanks,
Aron

Doweling it is the correct way to install the girdle (may it be Z10 or oem Honda). People having problems with the girdle shifting A. don't realize it yet, B. did not take the important steps to dowel the girdle to the caps, C. did not check the crankshaft bore alignment and align hone if nessesary.

I dont know how people could possibly build bad ls/vtec...it has less then 10 steps to do it. I have built for in my life...and not one of them has gone bad..for over a year and a hlaf on the youngest one. Its a killer motor...and mostly people who got raped buying gsr setups are usually the bitter ones HATING on the ls/vtec.

Just out of curiosity how many Hondas are in the 8's or 9's on non-VTEC blocks?

Edit: What's the advantage of going with a non-VTEC block when it's a lot cheaper (50% almost) to just get your B18C1 block sleeved at Golden Eagle with 84mm bores?
