Potential issues with ls/vtec + turbo setup?
I am thinking about doing this swap to my car. I have done some searching and I see a lot of mixed discussions about reliability. What potential issues are at risk with this setup? I am considering a ls block with 81.5mm srp pistons,eagle rods. LS crank, OEM bearings, etc. Turbo kit might be purchased from local guy who knows his **** and is a HT member. I know lots of people do this setup and I guess thats why there are so many mixed reviews. What can, or should be done to maximize reliability? This would not go into a daily driven car, but I still need reliability because I would probably sell my b16. Any and all feedback would be appreciated, so I can get a good idea about diving into this.
Your plans for the bottom end seem pretty sound. As long as the head is in good condidtion and the engine is assembled properly, your main source of reliability will be the engine management/tuning/maintenance.
