is an electric gauge. there's 3 wires. one for power, one for ground and one for lighting. the lighting works fine it's the power and ground that arn't right i don't think. it's a sport comp 2 by the way. i've currently got it wired to the cigarette lighter but i don't think that's right. i've heard it has to be wired to something that has power even on turn-over, otherwise it reads improperly. anyone confirm that? if so where should i wire it to?

One wire should be for ignition controlled 12v to power the sensor, the other wiring is for the lights. I take ignition controlled 12v directly from the under-dash ignition harness. It is a yellow wire.
When you say "reads improperly", what do you mean? If its reading anything, it is probably getting the power it needs. Check the connections to see if any are loose or poorly made.

okay i'll try wiring it to that yellow wire.
i've heard if it's not wired to a power source that has power even when the engine is being turned over it can read improperly. think i even read that on the instructions. or is it that my gauge is possible screwed up?

says it does right in the instructions. but it's reading 12 psi and i know for a fact i ain't running 12 psi. at idle it only reads 10 Hg. or -10 psi. however you read it. and i know it should be a lot lower than 10 at idle.
