Its getting time to get my fresh motor in my car(84mm ls-vtec). I was wondering if it would be ok to install the turbo kit along with the new motor. The car will be started up by my tuner and partially street tunned for a/f then off to the dyno.

Does anyone have info/details for dyno break-in? How many miles? What kind of dyno?

i think you will be ok with the turbo kit on it i dont bbelive in the break in period .... just don't over do the new motor but you don't have to baby it

 

no break in necessary..

i put my freshly fully built motor in with turbo setup and first started it on the dyno and it seen 9000rpms right away.

drove the living **** out of it since.

 

ive always said break it in how your going to drive it... if its going to blow, its going to blow

 

the few engines i've built, different break in's dont seem to have changed their end result/lifespan.

my next engine (hopefully fully built, sleeved, etc) will be broken in, driven around to get a partial throttle tune, and slowly work my way up to the way i'll drive it at its peak, all in the same session. break it in like its going to live, IMO. obviously you need to make sure everything is OK and healthy first.

 

I agree with redzcstandardhatch, it's known that the rings seat quite quickly, but definently make sure everything is going well with the motor before you start going nuts.

I plan on just starting it up, checking for leaks, draining oil, refilling and off to the dyno

 

i agree with that. i just built my own b18a1 turbo setup. Feeling confident for the moment i get to turn the key. Someone once tried to tell me that its okay to see specs of metal shavings in your oil after rebuild. Its the knocking you should be worried about.
