Default Stock B16A Vs SOHC D16 TURBO

Wich would be the optimal choice? Planning on swapping out my B16 for a D16 Turbo.

This is going into a EM1 by the way. How much would a D16 Turbo cost when its said and done?

why would you do that?

i would understand if its a stock ex/dx/hx but why swap out a b16 from an em1 for a single cam boosted? you're gonna lose a lot of value on the car unless the motor is blown or something but even then.. i don't see why you would. just save and boost the b16.

The B16 I have right now is having alot of problem I don't want to bother with. 3rd and 5th gear synchros shot out. Throw out bearing is blasted. Loud clicking noise from valve that even 2 valve adjustment won't fix. Blown Gasket, oil leakage. You think I should swap another B16A2 or just swap out to a TURBO D16?

if you're going to ditch the b16, at least get something that doesn't suck....

Get an LS or a GSR or something.

when it comes to cost including a complete d series change over, a dseries turbo can be quite abit cheaper depending on what all you do. I myself got sick of having an NA b16 in my EG hatch(160whp/110tq), so now I have a sol that'll soon be going turbo D(with no internal upgreades 175whp/150tq is very possible...I'll find out soon enough).

Seeing as how your current motor is bad, a turbo d (with upgraded pistons/rods and a cam and GOOD turbo parts) will be close to the same price as a B sereies swap but yet have quite abit more power and be faster.

i know several kids with em1's and they dont know how to check their oil, but they sure as hell know how to rag out their car. i hope this isnt you. being that the car is still newer it shouldnt have problems like that with a driver that RESPECTS his car. LEARN HOW TO DRIVE and do regular maintainence.

SO it's an si? Why don't you just buy a turbo for it, you'll be much more pleased. I promise.

It kills me these people swapping GSr motors into their SI. I can understand if they blew their motor, but if the motor is fine, leave it. I would NEVER swap out my DOHC motor that ran good for a turbo'd D.

Saving one Si at a time.
