if you already have a d16z6 in you hatch i would say keep it and go turbo.
A. Power potential from a turbo d16 is much higher then a N/A B16
B. you could get a turbo, intercooler and everything else you need to run boosted on a d16 for less then a b16.
C. there is NOTHING and i repeat NOTHING like driving a boosted car if you do it you will immediatly be hooked for life
D. Less down time and easier to install a turbo then get swap.
Just my 2 cents but then again i do run a turbo z6 in my 93 Si

depends. none of us can make that decision. How far N/A are you going...just I/H/E. If I had a D16..I would prolly just turbo it. But you have to factor in other things. IF you just do basic bolts on on a B16, you have less of a headache. Less stress on the motor. I am sure someone will say if you have good tuning, you can have a reliable turboed motor, but tuning cost money. I say it really depends on your power goals and how much maintenance you can go yourself (or are willing to do). I personally would do a boosted D16 because you already have it, but turbo isnt cheap either. Even if you homemake that ****

b16 swap after alls said and done your lookin at $2000-$3000. you can piece together a solid turbo kit for around the same and if you drive it to hard and **** it youv still got your thousand dollar investment in near mint condition. If I were you and for what it sounds like your goals are, get a turbo and run moderate boost until you can afford to upgrade internals and a good engine management system then turn da boost up.

Turbo the D.....Boost is like crack....one hit of it and your hooked.
Personally I would go with a greddy kit if it your first turbo install. Basic bolt on, very straight forward, and Very easy to install, and it can yield pretty decent power.
The one thing I would let a professional do it weld on the oil return flange onto your downpipe. But that shouldnt cost more that a couple of buck. a friend of mine did it for free but he told me that something like welding a flange to an oilpan they would have charged me like 15 bucks. Not bad if you ask me.
Just my $.02

My D at 10 psi eats RSX-s and Type R's all day long running the **** hack. Read my sig for 1/4 mile times to!!
one more thing to add,
You could probably find a greddy kit with a FMIC and a BOV (as they dont come with these from greddy) for a pretty decent price. I paid just over a grand for my greddy kit and Greddy/Trust type 31 intercooler and all the piping with a Greddy type s BOV. Check here on Honda-Tech, plenty of people are selling them. Greddy kits as they say nowadays are "A dime a dozen"
