Will no o2 sensor send the car into safe mode?(cant rev past 3800)
well i have an appointment monday to have a downpipe fabbed up. I took the car around the block just to make sure shes leak free and ready for the drive.
Problem is it cuts off at 3800. I was being very light on it of course but it wouldnt go any higher.
I have friends that went out boosting with no downpipe just fine.
Doesnt seem like an o2 sensor would do this?
ecu is obdI pr3 with chrome base map

If the O2 sensor isn't disabled, it will trigger the CEL if it isn't plugged into the exhaust system. I have seen nasty performance from my car when the O2 sensor CEL appeared. It was barely drivable.
It seems you and I are in the same boat because I am having a downpipe fabbed up for my Greddy kit right now. Luckily, I have an extra car because running open downpipe would get me a ticket before I even left the neighborhood.

Yea it is throwing the o2 code.
Im just worried because i have witnessed people beating the **** out their cars with no o2 sensors(throwing codes) and here i am i cant even rev to 4k(not that i have any desire to beat on my car in this state).

Catalyst inefficiency and O2 sensor CELs are two completely different things. The car will still be somewhat drivable with the catalyst efficiency CEL (most commonly seen on test pipe applications), but with a O2 sensor CEL, it will go into limp mode.

plug the o2 back in and let it dangle. reset the ecu. If the cel goes away and u can rev higher its problem solved. If not you know its not the o2 sensor

Guys i just put in my stock chip and of course the car could barely idle with the 440 injectors, BUT there was NO CEL with the stock chip. Does the basemap chip is fubar?

no its fine, that is all it is. its a BASEMAP. not a complete tune up
you need to get the car tuned before you wash the rings out or run it so lean you melt something.

im not trying to beat on my car without a tune. But it shouldnt be running in limp mode even with a basemap.
A basemap is supposed to be a widebaned tuned chip from someone elses setup similiar to yours.
You shouldnt be in limp mode.
