Default Bosch Universal O2 sensor problem...

i wired and installed a new Bosch o2 sensor today to rid my car of that annoying check engine light. heres the situation and i need some feedback.

my old o2 sensor's threads were messed up and it was a little old so i replaced it with a universal o2 sensor. i would check my ecu for codes often and sometimes it would flash a code 1 (which is the o2 sensor), sometimes it would show no codes . the CEL would ONLY come on if i was driving above 40mph and i applied the brakes. with the new o2 sensor installed today, i still have that same CEL that comes on when the brakes are applied. why is the CEL still coming on? could it be the wiring? does it take a certain time for the ECU to read the new o2 sensor?

Don't shoot the messenger.

Bosch sensors suck *** - period.

Also any time you have to cut and wire o2 sensor wiring you run the risk of throwing the CEL. o2 wires need to be uncut and tampered with because of how sensitive the readings are.

Solution?

Either buy the O.E Honda sensor, or buy the direct plug-in NTK o2 sensor.
